Why can't e-tickets be displayed on a tablet or laptop ?

Thank you. I like these new tickets but I hope it does not mean we lose our ticket offices and travel centres. In my are there are very few stations with barriers, ticket check on trains cannot often be done and even then the guards do not seem to have barcode scanners. Hopefully they will...

Why can't e-tickets be displayed on a tablet or laptop ?

Thank you for the information. I was not sure if the database and the links to scanners was up and running yet. In my area the stations are not gated and the guards are not yet using portable scanners. Please could I ask how break of journey works as I believe an exit through a gate will mark...

Why can't e-tickets be displayed on a tablet or laptop ?

Yes. Every ticket barrier and portable scanner (if carried by a guard) can record the ticket number from the 2D barcode. Eventually this could be fed back to a big database. Analysis of this data could detect misuse of a ticket such as using the same ticket multiple times. As each ticket is...

Worcester Foregate Street to Worcester Shrub Hill

Thank you. Quite a big mistake allowing passengers presumably a cheap journey to London. More useful than Droitwich. Best wishes, Stephen.

    Worcestershire Parkway station progress

Yes. Hopefully opening soon. Best wishes, Stephen.

Worcester Foregate Street to Worcester Shrub Hill

Thank you. I will probably not risk it. Ticket checking can be a bit patchy around here but it would be just my luck to have trouble. Also it is probably immoral as it is possibly theft in all but legality. Best wishes, Stephen.

Worcester Foregate Street to Worcester Shrub Hill

Thank you. As you say ridiculous. I only saw it as I have to get between the two Worcester stations and saw 22 minutes as the journey time. I would usually walk but I will have luggage. Perhaps I better not try the journey out. It might depend on who the guard is. Best wishes, Stephen.

Worcester Foregate Street to Worcester Shrub Hill

The virgin app is offering several services a day between these station that go via Droitwich Spa. Is this right do you think? I wondered about a cheap return trip to Droitwich. I would use a single Worcester Foregate Street to Worcester Shrub Hill with a break of journey in Droitwich. I would...

    Worcestershire Parkway station progress

Cycled over on Sunday to see how it was going. The first photo is looking from the main entrance. Still a lot of work to be done on the car park. The second photo is from a side entrance and show the high level Cotswold line platform. I believe that is not opening in the first phase. Time...

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I did a dummy booking for my last trip today for some date in the future. I used the DB UK language site as suggested here. It gave me the twenty minute change in Brussels but on the itinerary details there is an option to change the connection time of any particular connection. You can ask...

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I have not spent much time in Belgium. A weekend in Bruge thirty plus years back. Including a return on the Hull to Zebrugge ferry. My recent experience has been the Brussels Midi and chocolates. I must spend time there and not just pass through. Best wishes, Stephen.

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I love that term Security Theatre. I suppose it might act as a bit of a deterrent but does really stop anybody. I would be interested to know if it is closed on Monday. I hope it is not permenant.

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I wonder why they are doing that on a random basis? Best wishes, Stephen.

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I think we are talking about different things. The connection passage in Brussels is a walkway under the platforms that allows a quick change of trains from Eurostar. It is located about half way along the Eurostar platforms. Best wishes, Stephen.

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

Fifteen minutes is insane. You might make it but often will not. It should not be offered surely. Best wishes, Stephen.

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

Thank you, that is very good advice. I am planning Alesund in Norway next year so it will be through Germany again.

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I wanted to do a scenic route so I chose Munich to Venice via the Brennner Pass. This may not be the same when the Brenner Base Tunnel opens. Also last years trip to Barcelona was messed up by the French train drivers strike so I wanted to avoid French trains for the way out. For the return I...

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I should have tried to booked a more appropriate seat, moved seats or walked down the train as it approached Brussels. I was relying on using the quick connections route. I had not thought that might be closed. I do not know if that is a permenant closure or just for some temporary works. Also I...

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

I will look at the Thalys next time. I have never been offere the DB discounted London to Germany tickets on these trains but I have never tried b-Europe. Thank you, Stephen.

I will never do a 20 min Eurostar - ICE change at Brussels Midi again

i Have previously not had a problem with a twenty minute change at Brussels. From the Eurostar to a German ICE. A couple of weeks back it was nearly my undoing. My Eurostar was a couple of minutes late. My carriage was at the far end of the platform. The connections route was closed...
