South ECML ARS after re-control from King's Cross PSB to York ROC

The standard of signalling on the ECML and indeed generally has become absolutely diabolical. I understand the reasons why but York ROC are something else.

    EMR Class 360's

Are you saying the 360s could do 110 as 8s or less south of Bedford? Without the work being done? Or have I misunderstood? :)

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

I thought as much, quite a strange sound to use!

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

Is it me or is the door opening sound the same as the GSM-R Emergency Call sound when receiving one in an active cab?

HST! Happy to be on them all day. Drives a dream.

Stations with just one platform...that could really do with two

I was more meaning it's a waste of electrification without building a second platform ahead of time, as opposed to current loadings.

Stations with just one platform...that could really do with two

When you think about it, Corby is a single line platform which has just been electrified, madness really.

    Euro Tram Driving Championship

Driving a tram is nuts! It still fascinates me (simple I know!) that there are basically trains and overhead lines down streets! In Nottingham the trams travel down otherwise quiet looking streets, houses with OLE directly outside, it is so weird! Add to that the squishy stupid things that roam...

Question for drivers regarding operational incidents

You sound like the kind of guard I want on my train! Respect, brother/sister!

Question for drivers regarding operational incidents

Absolutely, a considered knock/check is lovely. Most guards I work with would enter quietly, if they found you on the phone they'd either leave or wait for your thumbs up all is okay, I've had it with every time I've put it into emergency when not on an HST where it isn't possible for them to...

Medical Emergency on 1S36, but train leaves anyway

Pretty meaningless. The most common injury I've seen like that are injuries accosiated with falling due to fits or other events like that, which in the elderly is common and something I've dealt with. Each case is different and I get its rare but in any case, moving someone without any knowledge...

Medical Emergency on 1S36, but train leaves anyway

I see a lot of pressure on train crew to get ill passengers off trains, to keep them moving and reduce delays and trapped trains, even where this is inappropriate and dangerous. It is a difficult balance but there is definite pressure there to leave people on platforms as they wait for help...

    Swietelsky

Sure I saw one of their machines in Cricklewood the other day, a big tamper?

Ex-train driver sentenced for incident at Cannon Street

Well, he/she has a point. With the congested network it would hit something long before preventative signalling methods could be put in place, whatever they are. Signalling it like a run away train won't work everywhere if it's driven and overridden...loops? Few on my high speed mainline. Catch...

Union of South Africa damages Carriage gangway on the ELR

The fact that they slinked off after this is extremely poor, not even so much as an inspection.
