GWR Shortage of Traincrew Weekend and During Week

Your points make good sense - but for the avoidance of doubt - these are verified customer service issues. Not "perceived" customer service issues.

GWR Shortage of Traincrew Weekend and During Week

It will give them an incentive to provide even a basic level of customer service. GWR are taking around three months to process delay compensation claims and issue cheques. They're also making silly mistakes where they initially claim there was no delay and thus no compensation due. They give...

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

I'm aware of certain services (I'm interested in the Cotswold Line) which are IETs but unclear whether GWR is continuing to receive IETs? The frequently requested allocations post says valid until March 2018.

    GWR compensation scheme

Network Rail pays the TOC for an incident, such as a person hit by train. TOC does not pay delay claims to passengers. Network Rail does not pay the TOC if a mechanical fault stops the train running. TOC has to pay delay claims to passengers.

Taken to court, facing criminal charges advice needed

Isn't it possible to file a small claim against XC? Damages limited to £10,000 do not carry the risk of costs awards unless brought unreasonably (and my limited experience suggests that there's a high threshold for a DJ to consider a party unreasonable). I have very limited experience the UK...

    GWR compensation scheme

The hypocrisy is that they will accept compensation from Network Rail for the incident in question while denying customer claims for compensation. Thus GWR appear to profit from tragic incidents such as 'person hit by train.'

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

1P45 1834 GMV - PAD 2130 (from diagram thread) This service used to arrive at PAD 20:59 or thereabouts and was served by a class 180. Why would the journey time have been extended by ~30 minutes?

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

Looking forward to these rolling out on the Cotswold line. The last two GWR HSTs I've travelled on have been cancelled due to technical problems... strange one yesterday where we reached Oxford (bound for PAD), then the train was cancelled as a result of "no power" according to a fitter. Yet the...

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

Thanks all. In terms of the "service code" I noticed that this appears to remain the same: IEP Depot to PAD PAD to SWA SWA to PAD I'm wondering whether that would work as a way of tracking an IEP. Perhaps one day the term HST 125 will only be used when it is an HST on the route.

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

How do you tell which services are IETs? I've only seen "High Speed Train (HST125)."

    GWR Class 800

Random question - on most trains either the nearside or offside front lights are illuminated. Why do Class 800s have both headlights illuminated? Also, what's the purpose of the single light above the cab windscreen?

    GWR Class 800

Is that full acceleration from the GWR HST? Notch 5 departure from this HST appears to pull away more quickly: (just an observation about the HST's sluggish getaway... not trying to denigrate the IET in any way)

Is Transport Focus a waste of money?

Be careful what you wish for - the Financial Ombudsman Service labels itself as 'independent' but they are funded by the financial firms and will ignore legal precedents to decide what is "fair" (to their friends who fund them). Nobody can touch them and they will even fob off MPs who enquire...

Frequently Requested Diagrams Discussion & Updates

Thanks for the replies. From observations at PAD over the past days (one hour lunch break - what better place to spend it) it appears that there is indeed no set route for 43002 (spot on, PHILIPE). My original question was in context of the 'Cathedrals Express' HST consistently operating the...

Frequently Requested Diagrams Discussion & Updates

I've been searching this forum without success - does anyone have diagrams for GWR, specifically the PAD - Evesham line? Located diagrams for the Class 180s but nothing else. Specifically interested to know which services the 43002 'Sir Kenneth Grange' HST may be scheduled.

Surprise surprise; Ryanair being economical with the truth!

Not demeaning at all. If they all decided not to turn up for work, they would be replaced with staff who would be prepared to turn up for work. :) --- old post above --- --- new post below --- As they're based in Ireland, Ryanair apparently doesn't have to file reports about certain incidents...

Surprise surprise; Ryanair being economical with the truth!

The difference there is that basic supermarket staff don't have ultimate responsibility for the lives of their customers in the way that flight crew do. Supermarket staff don't have to pay for their own training (runs into four figures with Ryanair) and certification before being treated like...

Surprise surprise; Ryanair being economical with the truth!

If you fly with them you're endorsing the way they treat their staff: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/you-thought-ryanairs-attendants-had-it-bad-wait-til-you-hear-about-their-pilots-8621681.html That cheap ticket is being subsidised by the exploitation of poorly remunerated...
