Absurd use of Passenger Information Displays...

I remember July 2005, Southern displaying on the screens that London were getting the 2012 Olympic Games.

    A 3-point turn is a U-turn

My mother took her test in 1977 and she tells me she failed because she did the turn in 5 rather than 3. The examiner made some comment about 'A man could do it in 3'. She passed 2nd time with a different examiner who didn't even ask her to perform one!

Trivia: Longest train journey between two geographically close towns

My cousin has just got a job in Gorton, Manchester. He lives in Kirkby, Merseyside. Both have train stations. He'd love to use the train but it takes 2 hours to do a journey that he can do by car in 40 minutes. No contest.

    Train guard swearing ?

^^THIS Customers/Clients/Passengers eavesdrop far too much on conversations between staff members, years ago it didn't get too out of hand as they would perhaps only repeat it to friends or family. Now with things like Facebook and Twitter they are repeating it all around the world often...

    New £1 coin design

We get people wanting to swap new 10ps for old because the library photocopier doesn't like them and I understand a lot of Shopping Centre car park machines are yet to be updated. But this isn't the Treasury's fault. This is industry being tight.

    Not PC on LM

How did the 'witness' know to record it? It takes seconds to unlock phone, open recording app and press record surely he'd have missed it? The more you look at this the more you wonder if its a spoof.

Map claims to reveal London's most popular stations

Very recently banned on our system too. We think they've printed something the overlords didn't like

Cross Country 1st class food + drink + service

I've found Cross Country to be terribly inconsistent. Sometimes I've been offered the lot (hot main meal, dessert/snacks, cold and hot drinks) and other times I've had nothing and the 'host' was nowhere to be seen!

    What's Your Woolworths Now?

What I've noticed about a lot of these is the complete lack of a revamp to the stores by the new tenant/owner. Some of them literally look like they've just swapped the signs over!

    Bob Crow dies

What we are seeing here from Boris and others is class and dignity. Something Bob and others were lacking last April when an 87 year old mother and grandmother died after suffering a stroke. Now I can't even begin to agree with his politics and his attitudes but I respect his right to have had...

    Which newspaper do you read?

Are you sure? I have yesterdays (Sat) in my hand and it quite clearly says 40p on the front.

    Which newspaper do you read?

    Saturday's copy is now 40p.

    What's Your Woolworths Now?

Yeah I never understand why some towns 'need' a second branch of a shop. Hanley (Stoke on Trent) now has 2 branches of Poundland yet neither has ever been all that hectic! I can only presume the original one (in the less popular end of the Potteries shopping centre) is costing them buttons to rent!

Select your seat on East Coast

None of the systems are perfect, I recently bought some tickets with Flybe for a trip to Germany. Whilst I could flick around on the seat screen all day long changing my mind, what it wouldn't do is select the same seat for the return trip, even when that seat was free, if I wanted to sit in...

    School detentions

Our school had 'Red' Slips, get 3 of those in 1 term and you got a 'House' Detention, which was originally 15 minutes after school on a Monday. They then changed this to a 'Lunchtime' Detention and it basically involved you cleaning the tables off in the Hall! You could also be given a...

    What's Your Woolworths Now?

I'm pretty certain it was on Churchill Parade, my memory seems to think it was where Iceland is now located. No point looking on Google Earth as Halfords moved to their current site in 1996!

    Top Gear

Yeah I was surprised not to see a 205 GTi as I recall Clarkson saying on one of his videos (Top 100 cars?) that it was brilliant and the 106 GTi was also a favourite of his! I have to confess to being disappointed with the usual puerile antics (Car Alarms, Fake Moustaches, OTT stunts, silly...

    Nice surprise on East Coast

Ha! Love it, I must confess that whenever I see a train pass me on the motorway I sometimes want to race it (I blame Clarkson!).
