    Cycle Bag Searching at Stations

I'm sure that signage I've seen in the past (I'm probably talking 20 years ago) at Leeds was for panniers to be removed from parked bikes, so presumably the risk has been judged to be less now.

Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

    0. Fix the barriers so they don't reject valid tickets

Bee Network Service Improvements (Existing services)

Lots of complaints locally about the 184 not following the correct route, and inconsistent information. I saw an old-looking Stagecoach single decker in Huddersfield this morning full of folk in hi-vis which I assume was a route learning run. A lot more trips seem to have taken the correct route...

    Two trains on single track

Presumably there are exceptions to all this for situations where trains couple up or assisting a failed train?

£2 fare - but what next?

And that is part of the issue, that successive cuts to the network have led to a hub and spoke model so it's necessary to go into town to get to a neighbouring village.

£2 fare - but what next?

In West Yorkshire a £5 multi operator day ticket is available from Metro of £4.50 daily cap from First on TOTO.

Bee Network Service Improvements (Existing services)

I think that's due to the hail and ride section, bus times assumes it's staying on Manchester Road rather going to Mount Road

£2 fare - but what next?

I do object to the fact that First were happy to make a £2 flat fare available on their app but have been able to receive a load of taxpayer money for *checks notes* making a £2 flat fare available. I'm sure it's all above board legally bit it sticks in the throat when you see that First West...

Bee Network Service Improvements (Existing services)

Had my first ride on the new 184 today, several passengers quite miffed to find themselves on Manchester Road rather than Cowlersley. Metro's Your Next Bus service is still programmed with the old route, just to add to the confusion. (I have brought this to their attention). Good quality...

Good Customer Service In The Bus/Coach Industry

Transdev seem to do a much better job than First of publicising disruption and not keeping cancellations a secret. Metro (the PTE/Combined Authority) used to be really good but of late have dropped the ball a little with very late changes of timetable posters on stops so they still show...

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

The T&A are reporting that it's going to be closed for at least another 3 months for more extensive surveys. https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/24204162.bradford-bus-station-will-remain-closed-june/

Looking after Passengers during severe service disruption.

I was on a GC service that got stuck at Huntingdon for 3 hours due to the unit in front bringing down the OHLE. The buffet wasn't staffed on this particular service, but the guard put a supply of bottled water on the counter and made a PA announcement that it was available. Later he made some...

Bee Network Service Improvements (Existing services)

I think you've answered your own confusion - the map on bus times is data generated. There are no stops on the hail and ride section through Hard End so it's showing the direct route by default. The Tfgm leaflet will be correct

West Yorkshire Bus Franchising to go ahead

The document put before WYCA makes heavy reference to the EP+ proposal and points of difference between it and the franchising model, so it would seem unlikely that a tribuneral could suggest that option was not properly considered. They have also published a very detailed response to First's...

Trivia: More than one operator on town services

And plenty that are the other way round because First didn't want to run the evening service commercially do Metro tendered it and an indie won. In a couple of weeks time Huddersfield to Slaithwaite will have First 382/3, Stagecoach (Bee Network) 184 and Team Pennine 396, albeit serving stops a...

West Yorkshire Bus Franchising to go ahead

This stuff is a matter of public record. Companies House figures for year ending 23 Mar 2023: West Yorkshire: £4.5m profit Source: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/01990370/filing-history York: £0.2m loss (although £1.1m profit the previous year)...

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

Yes, I was highlighting the hours when there is also a 382 just 4 minutes apart rather than them combining to give an hourly service.

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

Well to be fair I chose to highlight the one that affects me on the part of Manchester Road that only gets the 184 and 382 going forward. Currently on a Sunday there is an hourly 185 to Slaithwaite (and Marsden). Now there are the same number of buses but 5 minutes apart with a 2 hour gap.

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

Huddersfield 382 and 383 timetables are now on BusTimes.org. The 382 and 184 are both going to be every two hours on a Sunday. Of course, running them in alternate hours would be far too convenient for passengers, so the pattern leaving Huddersfield bus station is: 10.29 (382) 10.33 (184)...
