    Russia invades Ukraine

Ukraine on the back foot against their properly equipped and trained units, such as the *cough* elite VDV managed to turn them back last time. Why would they think it would work the second time?

    Mornington Crescent

Ah, I see what you were trying but seeing as it is the season to be merry I'll use the Tia Maria and Baileys Morning Drink reverse move and place us squarely in the loving embrace of Maryland.

E M R - a pretentious brand with nothing to back it up? (yes I know, mainly DFT's fault)

The shadow of the HSTs withdrawal from service will be a long one across the network. Not in a sentimental way but in a "we don't have anything to replace these with" kind of way... The DfT want to know why the railways are struggling to attract people back then pull stuff like this. A nice...

    Freight Drivers. Footwear requirements.

I buy my own because my TOC offerings are awful. Oil/fuel resistant, non slip and steel toe cap is our basic requisites. As long as it ticks those anything goes, I'm currently sporting a nice pair of Sketchers work boots.

    What's your latest acquisition?

I was pleased! Apparently TX Logistik is actually the operator, MRCE is the leasing company. Anyway, there are two apparently, the Vectron and also an ES64. Enjoy a picture of the pair of them flaming together.

    What's your latest acquisition?

Very retailer heavy. And the layouts were sort of hard to get to. You have to really fight through the retailer stands to get to the layouts which were all bunched together at the back. Not terrible but not brilliant. This year I've been to Milton Keynes, Alexandra Palace and Warley, Warley has...

Trivia - Most useless speed limits

Sheringham branch between Norwich and Salhouse. Down road, 45mph, up road, 75mph. Because why not?

Value of coaches such as Mark 2s

Preserved non mainline steam locos generally don't have anything other than a vacuum brake so air braked only stock is not of any interest to many preserved railways.

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

Musk tells Twitter staff remote working will end Ah yes, removing one of the biggest perks of working in the online tech industry. That'll go down well with the staff who survived the mass cull.

    Russia invades Ukraine

I think there is a concern the Russians are either trying to lay a very obvious trap or are going to pull across the Dnipro then try and pull a Mariupol and raze the city. If they try the second the sky will darken with HIMARS.

People not knowing the dangers of the track.

The problem I find is that people just don't recognise railways as a potentially dangerous environment, and they fall into an odd area. Everyone knows to look when you cross a road because you do it all the time and the dangers are obvious and drilled into you from a young age. So although...

    Russia invades Ukraine

And pretty much every non-Russian intelligence agency, defense ministry or OSINT group. Websters defines a civil war as "a war between opposing groups of citizens of the same country", this is not a civil war. The USSR hasn't existed for over 30 years, this is an invasion going badly wrong for...

And there is the winner! British Sugar grows a huge amount of medicinal marijuana at its site in Wissington near Kings Lynn, in greenhouses previously used to grow tomatoes. Largest single contribution to the UKs total export quantity, which is the largest in the world.

Airlines hit by jet shortages in new challenge for aviation

The airlines only thought about the bottom line when reacting to Covid and that kneejerk reaction is biting them hard now.

    German N gauge items available

Don't, I don't need excuses for 111s, as a weakness only 120s pull at my desires more! Luckily old continental N is a git to get chips in so it's a non starter. Depends on the condition ready. £50- 80 for the locos, maybe, if they work well. £15/20 for the coaches and sub £10 for the wagons...

I was concerned that would be the result. Quite a way outside my time period. Damn.
