Which stations used to have "cab roads"? Do any still have them?

Perth had one, don't know if it exists now.

    Bardic Lamps

Various battery boxes available from Maplin. I have used the D cell and the AA ones in Bardic conversions with LED bulbs, the only complaints have been from the heritage railways's footplate crew about being dazzled - oh well!

The driver's view: 'The memory of a rail suicide never leaves you'

Where I worked, the management tried to ensure that if you dealt with the casualty at the scene, then someone else went to see the family / next of kin. I agree with you totally - dealing at the scene is never good, but IMHO better that than having to deliver the agony message.

Network Rail will be stripped of its control over Britain’s train tracks

Almost as bad an idea as 'smart' motorways, the Government seem hell bent on making travel more hazardous!

    Brighton Belle Restoration

I am now 70; I used to travel down from London after a day's trainspotting in London. I saved the money for the Pullman supplement so that I had a table to lean on whilst marking off the cops in my combined volume. Memories...............

    Obese Travelers On Trains

Unfortunately, The European Court of Justice do not agree with you, nor do they agree with many other posters here. They have decreed that obesity is now classed as a disability. Humph. [url]http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/dec/18/obesity-can-be-disability-eu-court-rules

ATW conductor gets the Christmas spirit

Brilliant! It is good to have some nice publicity about the good job done by many staff each day that normally go unnoticed by the travelling public.

Freelander, great photo; can you tell me what time the train passed through Chapel station? My neighbour went to Buxton with his grandson and missed the locos. Thanks!
