Major landslide between Haddenham and Bicester update thread

The vast majority of cancelled trains for Monday were deleted from the public facing industry system (Darwin) on Sunday. Unfortunately there appears to have been a technical problem which meant that the deleted trains were not syncronised properly with the screens at stations. Net result, online...

Do not travel warning from Chiltern!

According to the Wembley Stadium website, the concern is around lack of capacity after the game. https://www.wembleystadium.com/news/2023/05/26/20/43/EFL-CHAMPIONSHIP-PLAY-OFF-FINAL-URGENT-TRAVEL-ALERT

Chiltern May 2023 timetable change - for the worse or better?

The 1745 was formed of 5-165 as booked. RTT shows it did not leave from its booked platform, so likely a swap and late allocation into systems. A revised short term train plan starts tomorrow ref Nuneham capacity, so no idea what new formations will be. All peak Oxford services were as booked...

Chiltern May 2023 timetable change - for the worse or better?

From what I’ve seen, looks to be a complete mix of 165 & 168 trains booked for the weekday Oxford services. Seem to alternate for much of the off-peak daytime, but other than that fairly unpredictable. In the morning the 0634 from OXF remains 8/168 and the 0745 is booked as 5/168.

    Overcrowding during Easter

Currently there is a fault with the signalling system at Leamington Spa, cancelling or delaying services. I imagine Birmingham Moor Street and Marylebone will be a tad busy. ☹️

Chiltern Birmingham services & accurate/up to date timetable change information.

National Rail Enquiries, the Chiltern App (or most other Apps provided by train companies). will be best. Real Time Trains tends to only be updated later, as it is reliant on Network Rail updating 'TRUST'. NRE and most train company Apps take updates from Darwin. Alterations such as the Moor...

    Capacity checker

For Chiltern, Average Train Loadings are sent to Darwin each Thursday to go live on Friday morning, based on ATL data for each service for the previous two weeks. Loading data is Day specific. There is a minor Darwin update / release tonight which should hopefully resolve some reporting issues...

Fare query for Hayes&Harlington > Marylebone PAYG on 1 March

You will almost certainly have to walk from Paddington as no London Underground services are expected to run on Tuesday 1st March 2022.

How feasible is a West Hampstead Interchange station?

Assuming that land could be found for platforms, calling more than two or three Chiltern services an hour would reduce the peak time capacity of the lines in/out of Marylebone by too much to be acceptable. There is simply no need given the new interchanges with Crossrail and the future options...

Chiltern running 3 cars during the peak rush hour.

The 1410 from Marylebone is due to change to a 3-168 with an additional 70 seats. From 13th Dec. Can’t see any change to the inward working from Birmingham.

    London to Birmingham Routing

I randomly picked the Wednesday of the first week of the new timetable and didn’t check any other day, making an erroneous assumption without checking. Apologies.

Chiltern running 3 cars during the peak rush hour.

From tomorrow (19th Oct), the 0806 from Banbury is be booked to be a 4-car 168 instead of a 3-car, Tuesdays to Fridays only, until it is replaced by a Class 68 loco hauled train in December. It seems that the 0659 is also planned to be strengthened from 3 to 6 carriages on the same four days a...

    Best smartcard to get

If your Chiltern smartcard is full, space will be cleared if your next ticket is loaded at ticket barriers at the originating station (if there are barriers) or by using any Chiltern ticket machine. Unfortunately the Chiltern App(s) cannot clear up expired slots if attempting to load using a...

How busy have your trains been?

Not possible at present due to cracks found on the ETS mountings. Only 1 loco available for use at present and that set appears to have had problems in the West Midlands this morning. cracks found on the ETS mountings

    Using Oyster/CPay via Gerrards Cross

@CyrusWuff is entirely correct. There will be no problem accessing the platforms at Gerrards Cross for your return journey - Touching in at Amersham and out at Marylebone are key.
