Strangest Places you have come across trains

I stopped in a lay-by on the A429 near Wellesbourne in Warwickshire and came across an ex-Connex South Eastern Class 508 unit on the back of three lorry trailers (one vehicle on each trailer) . I *think* I remember reading they were for a fire college in Gloucestershire at some stage. It would...

    London Overground Class 172

To me the most logical place would be London Midland to enable the final diagrams booked for 170s to be removed from the Snow Hill route.

SWT 159 announced as FGW service at Bristol Temple Meads?

South West Trains class 158 transfers to East midlands Trains

No they don't, 4 units stable at Norwich Crown Point overnight. However Crown Point also have the CET emptying equipment for their 170s!

why does the long distance Norwich-Liverpool route still have 158's and not 170's

Firstly I would imagine there are very few Northern crews who would sign Class 158 units AND the route to Stockport etc. Secondly a solitary 158 wouldn't go very far in trying to provide a service between Liverpool and Stockport. As to the provision of a Northern or TPE unit, the priority for...

why does the long distance Norwich-Liverpool route still have 158's and not 170's

I think you're missing the point. The hire was agreed with NXEA because the units were stabled at Norwich over the weekend without work. When the snow caused the Hope Valley Line to be blocked there were no East Midlands Trains units on the western-side of the block as all stock for morning...

why does the long distance Norwich-Liverpool route still have 158's and not 170's

No worries. No it was NXEA crew as far as I can tell. I would imagine a good proportion of their Norwich crew would sign them because of the Lowestoft hire in the morning.

why does the long distance Norwich-Liverpool route still have 158's and not 170's

Correct, let's not start going mad, it was just one day whilst the three units were stranded at Norwich! A unit gets sent for one day and it's assumed that EMT have shipped their units off...calm down!!

why does the long distance Norwich-Liverpool route still have 158's and not 170's

On which route? All Liverpool - Norwich route services were correctly formed today. The 07:43, 08:52, 09:52, 10:52 and 11:52 off Liverpool were all 4-cars as they should be. The remainder are two cars as they should be!
