Stations still extant - but potential to serve railway needs ruined by rationalisation pre-2000 - worst examples

P12 is expected to get reinstated once new station entrance works are completed. This will come at the cost of the Forth Banks turnback siding however

Castle Cary speed restriction for Glastonbury?

Free? Blimey! The shuttle bus from Derby to Donington Park for Downlad Festival cost £12 PER DAY! Reading and London Paddington would also see huge crowds on the platforms heading to or coming back from Glastonbury. Regulated by the use of a dedicated plarform for glastonbury revellers which...

TPE - "Essential travel only" Friday 23rd June.

I jave always argued that theres no demand for a service because we don't provide a service. Look at the newcastle-edinburgh shuttles stopping at all the intetmediate stations (morpeth, alnmouth, berwick, reston, dunbar and soon east linton). LNER and XC only serve one or two of these stations...

TPE - "Essential travel only" Friday 23rd June.

Having dealt with the planning department managers that is exactly where I would point the finger of blame along with the senior managers above them that signed off these decisions

TPE - "Essential travel only" Friday 23rd June.

Yeah me too, with word spreading a certain junior manager collecting grieviances as if they are labels of honour is getting promoted into a senior role and the ex bank manager senior also getting a leg up is rather concerning conductors. They are far from competent.... For one, put the...

TPE - "Essential travel only" Friday 23rd June.

Oh dont worry. From what I am hearing theres plenty of fingers being pointed in front of the MD and in the direction of managers responsible for the mess the company is in, and he appears to be listening....

Typical lack of thinking - late night connections

Interestingly, Lumo control, Hull Control and TPE North route control is the same desk at Ashburys ROC.... 1N34 and 9E21 are both booked slow lines north of York and have engineering allowances for any bi-directional operation north of Northallerton. Interestingly 9E21 often waits time at...

Northumberland Line to be re-opened to passengers

Manors is served by the existing hourly service to Morpeth operated by northern which gives 1tph, however I am unsure wether the B+T services are in addition to the morpeth or if one of the trains replaces it. Doesnt help P12 being OOU in order to accomodate 802s on P11 but i understand P12...

Typical lack of thinking - late night connections

No, the newcastle based crew relieve the York based crew at York. LNERs 1N34 departs at 23:07, 9E21 departs 23:11.

Typical lack of thinking - late night connections

Any nore than 15 mins late and it is likely the newcastle based crew scheduled to work 9E21 from York will refuse to work it as they dont want to work over their rostered hours

TPE Nova 3 (Class 68 + Mk5s) updates and withdrawal from service

I agree. Focus the 68s on one route and stop trying to spread the stock too thinly. Meanwhile staff elsewhere are losing competency. Thats partly contributing to the cancellations.

    HST Reliability

Primarily its their age, while they arent hammering up and down the ECML at 125mph any more they are doing a lot more start-stop work and that will have an effect on component life. For instance, when first introduced the original valenta engines didn't like the frequent complete power cycles...

30% of TPE services cancelled Thursday 8 June

In short, no. Because the same rostering, diagramming and planning managers are still in charge of their relevant departments and one of those managers has already stated that he isn't going to change any working practices he has been following for the last 20 odd years... Thus is where I...

30% of TPE services cancelled Thursday 8 June

Yesterday (thursday) there were 96 cancellations and 34 amended/part cancellations showing on Journeycheck at 05:00 when I checked my shift times. It was obvious to me as the day progressed while some trains dropped off JCheck more cancellations were added. Today at 03:00 it currently shows 67...
