Cambridge doesn't get trainees very often and has quite a few di already and is doing interviews for new dis presently so you're not likely to have to wait too long. Welwyn on the other hand not so great.

Manager at Cambridge told me 20. But I don't know how many are new and how many will be qualified. I would think 2 courses and was told april/may time as they need to get them qualified in time for the training on in cab sig. But as its the railway it will be whenever they get around to it.

They are to help cover the training needed for in cab signalling so need to get them productive as soon as poss. Plus we have had quite a few retire recently.

I dont know about welwyn. Have heard 2 courses this year for Cambridge. They want them to help cover training for etcs.

I know a few people who have recieved rejection emails for cambridge today. I've been told they are looking for 20 ppl at Cambridge with a few coming from qualifed mainly ga drivers.

These don't come up often. Cambridge is a great depot to work at. Good ppl and a good variety of work.

No gtr driver

It is a farce. There are loads of driver at my company who have moved well outside the hour travel window they were given when they signed up. The company are well aware of where they have moved to, as these ppl still manage to get taxis in. It shouldn't be allowed but the company have never...

Its definitely not gona happen, although cambridge depot was split into 2 links in order to facilitate it, the maidstone link has now become the fenland link and there is talk about the depot becoming one link again or a smaller gn link vs larger Brighton one.

Still takes the micky when you have cambridge depot with gtr drivers on about 10k more then Ga as well as cross country on significantly more.

Not all tl or gn depots are like that. Personally I prefer nights. At Cambridge our worst job is work to London into Hornsey then empty to kings Cross in the morning and in service back to cambridge. Most jobs are a trip to London and back and maybe platform one in the morning. Alot less work...

Courses do appear to have dried up but I'm sure they will come around again soon. We certainly dont have enough drivers currently and theres quite a few retiring so be patience and positive. Hopefully something will come up soon. It took several years for me and had just about given up!

Hgv driver. Now nearly 5 years train driving! Loads of ex hgv drivers, military, police and firefighters.

My brother who applied has done the online test. Has been invited to the first stage assessments although he can't do the date they have. So things are moving.

Yes I've just gone back and checked so no taxi for new starters. Although I'd have a bet that if they rung up and asked for one the drm wouldn't have a clue who is entitled to them or not.
