Redhill non stop via platform 3?

I’m positive. You won’t find it in route learning materials, it was a local Route Brief issued on 4th Dec 2020 (number TRREW002020067).

Redhill non stop via platform 3?

Network Rail Sectional Appendix Local Instructions dictate that GWR terminating services arriving on platforms 0 and 2 should stop at the 6 car marker, regardless of turnaround time. In what appears to be a rare occurrence of common sense, GWR instructions to drivers actually overrule this and...

2V76 Gatwick Airport - Reading running as 6 carriages

The driver travels as passenger back to Reading on the train, so will be a case of no additional path being available or being needed.

How bad are train driver rotas?

Have others have said, it’s the change in shift times that takes years off your life Best thing you can do is a permanent mutual swap for either earlies or lates to suit for preference Usually plenty of volunteers that want to do either

Is it difficult to drive an 80x slowly?

Can mitigate to some extent by holding in minimum power before shutting off power, but yes they are pretty dire at low speed, most notably at 20 mph and below, you certainly feel a small jolt at the front. As Irish_Rail mentioned above, this is slightly better in Diesel mode. You may also feel...

The Driver role - your thoughts and feelings..

As others have said above, it depends on how you are as an individual, everyone’s different. I certainly don’t find the role lonely or isolating - unless you’re doing long distance InterCity work, you’re actually in more or less constant contact with folk - passengers, staff, randoms...

    GWR Train Driver talent pool

GWR drivers, mostly lower link Reading-based ones, drive the HEX units empty to/from Reading depot - HEX drivers book on at PAD and only sign the HEX route.

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

Henley branch will be the same - Currently minimum 3 minute turnaround. Locals campaigned for a 30 minute service but with absolutely no slack or recovery time the service is inevitably now less reliable - if the train is held for a connection or there’s Level Crossing Misuse for instance then...

Autumn refresh for GWR Class 165/166 Turbos

    That floor colour is optimistic!

Great detail in the advert re work content and link structure if only all TOCs provided this info in their ads

GWR IETs - End doors out of use

And completely ignored by passengers and not enforced by the Guard, so you’ll often see staff in first class for safety.

Driver opportunities with no requirement on distance

GWR certainly do, as long as you show evidence in your interview that you are willing to relocate to the local area.

    Class 166 change over speed?

    Power from the respective notches on Class 165/6 is as follows: Notch 1 - 1% Notch 2 - 14% Notch 3 - 36% Notch 4 - 50% Notch 5 - 73% Notch 6 - 87% Notch 7 - 100% ...in theory at least.

    Class 166 change over speed?

Depends on gradient and power notch, but generally between 46 and 56 mph.

    MMI NTS

Hi Dan The MMI will cover some of the 10 you’ve listed Knowledge of the RSSB NTS criteria will certainly be useful when it comes to your DM interview All the best

Which TOCs are currently conducting in cab trainee driver training?

It’s also no coincidence that most of those DIs that have volunteered to help you guys out are ones on more recent rolling fixed term contracts, which is what GWR have implemented for the last 3 yrs - those on permanent contracts less so, but they’re still happy to take the money for not doing...

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

Bubbles have been in place since September for training, so won’t be affected. If anything, will be easier as currently significantly overstaffed due to service reductions. As others have said above, GB Railfreight will be undertaking the fault free running before any crew training takes place.

    3tph on North Downs Line

Plenty of time between Wokingham and Guildford, so if the train reaches line speed it will invariably catch up with the stopper. Signallers are also getting used to the new paths - the faster trains need the crossing lowered earlier. If North Camp LC isn’t lowered as the train passes Ash, then...

    Driver training and second job

Don’t do it. Opportunities like this won’t come around often. Concentrate on your training. Good luck.

    3tph on North Downs Line

Local instructions are for GWR’s Redhill terminating services on platforms 0 and 2 to stop at the 6 car marker, which is towards the London end of the platform. A pain for customers walking all that way, especially with luggage, but those are the instructions.
