Passenger dragged by scarf in train door at Holborn

I think this is certainly the case, and perhaps something that needs looking at. Though you'd think it's only something they'd look at after an incident in which someone didn't use it and something went horribly wrong. The big warnings next to them for misuse don't really help.

Passenger dragged by scarf in train door at Holborn

I think this is also because, by and large, an accident on the railway is between an individual and the predictable (yet dangerous) environment. Road accidents generally seem to be when two or more individuals are not concentrating at precisely the same time, which can create a very random and...

Bakerloo Line - Why so filthy?

Looks like the Bakerloo Line really brings out the enthusiasts... :)

Passenger dragged by scarf in train door at Holborn

What a coincidence. I was only 6 at the time strangely yet I remember it, unless there was a similar incident. There are so many dangers on the railway, it only takes a second of complacency for a big accident to occur, be it passengers or workers. Shocking, how can someone be that oblivious...

Passenger dragged by scarf in train door at Holborn

Reminds me of the story about the young lad whose buttons on his coat got caught in the doors of a train and got dragged and killed by it, frightening stuff. On a slightly related note, does anyone else have a bit of fear when people are standing so close to the platform edge when the train is...

Bakerloo Line - Why so filthy?

I'm pretty sure I could do a full nights work down in the tunnels of many other lines of the Underground and come out feeling less disgusting than I feel as a passenger on the Bakerloo line. Why is it so filthy? I understand that it's old, but really? You can actually see the smoggy dirty...

Every Tube ticket office to close

Quite wishy-washy but nevertheless balanced. Anyone care to speculate whether next weeks planned strike will go ahead? This week really was a pig, not only was the tube disrupted due to the strikes but London Overground had severe delays at various points, the weather was atrocious and the...

Every Tube ticket office to close

I have been very disappointed with the bias shown toward Boris Johnson in the media, the man is dangerous.

Changing from the Circle line to the DLR

Is it rude to attempt to reach the doors while the train is still moving?

I'd say it varies on a case by case basis. Though even if usually not many people get off there, you aren't to know who specifically. If it is absolutely packed to the rim i.e. people do not even attempt to get on that train when its' doors open then I think it's fair to make an early attempt...

Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder (by country)

Is anyone aware of any country/countries asides from the UK where this profession is particularly fruitful/in demand at current? Just curious to know my options is all. Thanks.

Victoria Line doors opening before train has stopped.

I was on the Northern Line the other day and the driver must have been in a rush to get home or something. He kept opening the doors before the train had stopped and definitely didn't keep them open as long as usual IMO, but he kept having to wait 1min at platforms for the signal to clear as he...
