A career as a train driver

I've been working all sorts of silly hours for years as a truck driver. What I'm looking for as a train driver is an end to working 50-70 hours per week, proper paid annual leave, a decent pension scheme and to be paid a decent rate for the job. All of the above are missing from road haulage...

    Conductor at Northern

Thanks for your reply Beveridges. I was wondering if anyone would comment? If I were to add that for £50k p.a, I travel 290 miles to work & stay in digs all week( start times are 04:00 or 16:00)& I also work weekends and bank holidays! It doesn't look like easy money now does it? I agree with...

If I'm successful, I'll be on £18,700 for 12 months during training. That'll be difficult but not impossible to swallow but the rewards will be there after...

Transpennine Express New Trainee Driver Vacancies

Just wondering, once a trainee completes the 12 month training, how many months or driving hours do you need to complete to reach the status of Qualified Train Driver? Did I read 225 hours somewhere? Regards. Daz.

Transpennine Express New Trainee Driver Vacancies

Hi guys , just joined this forum after applying for a position at Newcastle. I'll keep browsing on here to see if I can pick up any tips? Re the training salary, it would be a big paycut for me but something I'm willing to stomach to hopefully achieve a better career with pension etc? Dazza.
