Urgent - court case Friday 12th April

Does anyone really believe that the incompetence the OP would have experienced if they had responded to an initial letter would have been any different to the incompetence they experienced on the train? I don’t. There should be some redress for time, inconvenience, and humiliation for the OP.

Getting to Heathrow - cheap vs expensive

Interesting - thank you. That sounds well worth checking out. The airport itself is pretty useless for seeing anything, but the parking pods provide a fun ride and good views of one of the runways!

Getting to Heathrow - cheap vs expensive

It's a bit mind blowing trying to plough through and make any sense of them - thanks for your summary. I find the TfL Single Fare Finder atrocious in terms of its search algorithm. As you type in the word "Heathrow" character by character, it offers you a varying list of suggestions to choose...

Getting to Heathrow - cheap vs expensive

I took: Crystal Palace - Clapham Junction (Southern) Clapham Junction - West Brompton (Overground) West Brompton - Earls Court (District Line) Earls Court - Heathrow T5 (Piccadilly Line) I tapped pink readers at Clapham Junction and West Brompton, although I think the latter alone would be...

Getting to Heathrow - cheap vs expensive

As we were making a school holiday plane spotting trip to Heathrow yesterday, we decided to split up and compare the cheap route vs the expensive route by train from Crystal Palace to T5. I took the £3.70 avoiding Zone 1 route - four trains - whilst the others took the £13.30 Elizabeth Line -...

    Heathrow to Chelmsford options

I suspect that split paper tickets with railcard for the full journey are unbeatable if you want to be able to use the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow.

    Travelling in London

This map might help in determining free child travel options on National Rail: https://tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/free-travel-areas-without-oyster-adult-accompanying-map.pdf It might be worth checking Groupsave options - sometimes treating children as adults saves money. But that...

Ignoring gateline staff if they're incorrect about ticket validity

This seems to be the root cause of the problem and I'm guessing left @dontteleport out of pocket? But who's responsible and how would they go about obtaining compensation to put them back in the financial position they would have been in were they able to buy the correct ticket?

    Did I do something wrong?

Ticket barriers give an indication that a card with a discount is being used, which is why you were stopped. They presumably think this leads to easy pickings. However, you actually have to have the railcard in order for a member of staff to add it to your Oyster, so that doesn't make much...

    New Clapham Junction Departure Boards

Nice. I wish Overground would take note of how useful it is to show the scheduled departure time!

    Out of time announcements.

A well designed system would presumably have the validity start and end dates/times coded when the announcement was loaded and then it would just die automatically. Are you saying everything continues to be played until it's proactively killed?

    London Buses Discussion

Took my son to ride SL3 at the weekend, but despite us both loving the New Routemaster, we had to disembark prematurely as he felt really travel sick (first time ever in any vehicle). It's a big bus and it felt like we were on a timed lap at Silverstone as it was thrown around roundabouts and...

Disabled railcard discount on “pay as you go” tfl

The website clearly states (for several Railcard types): Add your discount to an Oyster card.

    TfL Child fares

Getting back on topic, the 5-10 Zip card is only £10. The 11-15 Zip card is £15. The 16+ Zip card is £20. Replacing any of them after loss costs £10.

How the term "rail replacement bus" is viewed.

My perception is that RRB is a synonym for cheap or clapped out. I'm probably wrong and examples of modern, electric RRBs will come flooding in!

Penalty Services - penalty fares appeal company who acts incorrectly and spreads misinformation

Is that the stage at which the assessors are getting paid 80p an hour, or thereabouts?

Another good reason for no "regulation" of Superloops ;-)!! Do you know how many Hopper "hits" you got (ie: what did it cost)?

    TfL Child fares

We've never experienced a problem. Son always goes through the barrier first, unless both parents are travelling in which case we pass through as a "son sandwich". As he's only 8 he passes his zip card back to one of us for safe keeping. As well as a "grown up" feeling, it's stimulated an...
