    Travelling Zone 1-4 with a 1-3 travelcard

I think I may as well contest it seeing as the guy who issued it says it cannot get worse by doing so, additionally because £20 is a lot of money to someone who only earns £30 each week, (and £10 got me over 100 miles of journeys and a whole day out with the thames branches ranger, so to pay £20...

    Travelling Zone 1-4 with a 1-3 travelcard

I thought It would be fine (at least with the oyster barrier anyway), Since St Pancras is zone 1 then because my travelcard is valid there there is no time limit, regardless, the time max journey time on sundays for zones 1-4 is 135 minutes

    Travelling Zone 1-4 with a 1-3 travelcard

Sorry I forgot to mention, I did tell the staff I was just spotting, and not travelling somewhere, If necessary I could show video footage of trains, knowing the timetabling that could prove I didn't travel anywhere else (as ridiculous as this sounds)

    Travelling Zone 1-4 with a 1-3 travelcard

Hello, and thanks in advance for any advice: Today I wanted to do some spotting at Mill Hill Broadway, and so I touched in with my oyster at St Pancras (with a 1-3 travelcard on it), I spend just short of an hour I think at Mill Hill (which is in zone 4), and I didn't leave the station, (so I...

    Station Codes

Something maybe worth mentioning is the london Underground platforms can have different codes (only seen on staff signs, not for public use so to speak), e.g EAL is NR ealing broadway or EAB is london underground ealing broadway

    That announcer...

She has a website with audio clips, yes that definitely her, I wish they would suppress her breathiness before putting it on the trains, it sounds like she's whispering in your ear, some of my 'preferred' announcers sound more like they are speaking loudly and authoritatively

    Class 323 odd noise.

I think i will post some pictures of spectrograms of audio I have recorded of electric trains, perhaps they will reveal something about the type of motors?

    That announcer...

I'm sure you all know her, she's the automatic announcer on: The Piccadilly line, Heathrow Connect, Greater Anglia, First Capital Connect, London Midland, Southeastern, Southern, C2C, MerseyRail (thanks to 317666), Does anyone know who this woman is, and why she is so prevalant? It's...

    Innaccuracies on maps/information boards.

I know that Greenford and Marylebone (amongst many others) still refer to NR as BR, I don't understand why, when the trouble has been gone to change announcements and maps and the majority of signage, BR still remains at a major station like marylebone, I suppose the average joe is not expected...

    Innaccuracies on maps/information boards.

-The TFL interactive maps have incorrect markings for some things (e.g: the DLR logo for Overground stations) -This may be on purpose, but FGW 165/166 to Oxford are advertised to didcot parkway on departure boards, but to oxford with onboard announcements -Again probably on purpose but SW trains...

Disruption out of Paddington (PUT at Hayes & Harlington)

I was at Ealing Broadway during this disruption, announcements said that a person was hit near Hayes and Harlington, but also that a train was broken down at Ealing Broadway. Does anyone know if this train was the one that was involved in the incident? It was a Heathrow connect train, on...

do I need to leave the station to go on the highway?

Rainham (Essex) has an entrance onto a platform with an oyster reader but no ticketing facilities, the ticket office is accessed by crossing the footbridge onto the other platform, where there is a ticket office, although you are on the other side of the barrier, there is a ticket office desk on...

    Adelante/Class 180 FGW slow service

Sorry I suppose Psuedo-Intercity, It's still arranged for longer distance travelling, and is infact more 'intercity' like than e.g a LM 350 for crewe.

    Adelante/Class 180 FGW slow service

Thanks for the replies, I'll be sure to hang around if I'm around any of those times, I'm interested to compare it to HSTs and especially 221s and 222s, I can't be sure, but they seem more spacious than voyagers. I presume they accelerate faster than HSTs but wonder about the 165/6s, now I...

    Adelante/Class 180 FGW slow service

Hello, I have searched around a bit and couldn't find the answer to my question: Does anyone know if FGW are using their Adelantes for slow services (in lieu of Class 165/166s?). I have seen Adelantes on the slow lines between PAD and EAL from time to time, but assumed it was just empty...

    Mk3 Coaches on Oyster

In hindsight I shouldn't have mentioned it, I wrongly assumed a different reaction.

    Mk3 Coaches on Oyster

That is understandable, but I see HSTs on a daily basis, and I am yet to see a single person leaning out, so it can hardly be a prevalent problem, especially considering how many people purposely end their lives, or trespass to graffiti. It's usually enthusiasts who do it as well, who will have...

    Mk3 Coaches on Oyster

This thread has gone a bit off topic, but I'm really surprised about the attitudes to leaning out windows, do you not see people do it all the time on heritage railways/charters? perhaps the fun is lost with age? Isn't this just one of the greatest things ever? (especially with better weather...

    Mk3 Coaches on Oyster

No if I was to be hurt it would be my fault, I was just clarifying I cannot be punished by law (or byelaws) for doing so

    Mk3 Coaches on Oyster

from http://www.vikingsigns.co.uk/safety/safety-sign-design-bs5499/ A prohibition sign shall show only what or who is forbidden. (Red) A mandatory sign shall show only what action is required. (Blue) This is what the 'don't lean out the window' signs are: A hazard sign shall show only the...
