    Advice given on Scotrail Facebook

On the official Zonecard leaflet, Scotrail is clearly stated as the only rail operator which accepts Zonecard. If Virgin do accept it, brilliant! I know TPX have a particular issue with it and regularly sell rail tickets to Zonecard holders.

    Advice given on Scotrail Facebook

I wonder if perhaps the passenger has an SPT Zonecard rather than a rail season ticket. Zonecards are only valid on Scotrail services. If he does have a rail season, there are multiple Virgin and Cross Country services between Motherwell and Glasgow every day which can be very busy with...

    Scotrail Franchise - Abellio

Not sure if it has already been said but Abellio Scotrail will be offering delay repay on its services from day 1 of the franchise.

Glasgow Stations - new boarding system for Games

Scotrail have today initiated a 'one-way system' at Argyle Street and Glasgow Central Low Level stations to accommodate extra passenger loadings for the Commonwealth Games. Eastbound passengers can only board at Argyle Street, westbound passengers can only board at Glasgow Central. My...

SWT TVM did not accept Scottish note

As a bit of an aside, I've now seen quite a few of these about: https://www.danskebank.co.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/danske-bank-notes-0613.pdf

Should jobseekers get discounts for leisure travel?

Once again I will say I haven't judged anyone. Like anyone in the industry, I do not begrudge money being spent on rail travel at a time when many of us may be trying to justify our jobs. I do not disagree with jobseekers, or anyone else for that matter, taking all they are legally entitled to...

Should jobseekers get discounts for leisure travel?

If you read my original post, I am not judging anybody. Its the railcard I disagree with, not the people using it. I am well aware how it feels to be unemployed for a considerable period, and I would've appreciated discounted rail travel greatly at that time in order to help find a job...

Should jobseekers get discounts for leisure travel?

My suspicions arise chiefly from the fact these cards are often used at times and to destinations where jobseeking does not appear to be the reason for travel. I am uneasy about 'jobseekers' heading for stag weekends in the big cities and enquiring about weekend breaks to London (not valid from...

Advanced Purchase Tickets Not Available from Ticket Office

"But its a cheaper price on thetrainline....." Words I hear on a daily basis, which never turn out to be true.

Scotrail losing the Sleeper service does that mean the Scotrail franchise next?

It isn't just Scottish people who use the sleepers!

Should jobseekers get discounts for leisure travel?

Working in a ticket office, I must confess I am always suspicious of these JCP railcards. I know these suspicions are possibly unwarranted, but I am uneasy with the fact these can just be given out at Job Centres rather than through a TOC or other such appointed agent. As such I always check...

[UPDATED] Reported for having no train ticket

Playing devil's advocate here, but assuming there are no mechanical barriers at the station what would be stopping the OP from ignoring the revenue protection staff and leaving the station?

    Scotrail Departing MD

A bit of an aside, but there are some ridiculous jobs springing up within Scotrail just now. And most of them at Atrium Court. There seems to be a lot of nest-feathering going on before the franchise renewal.

    Declined cards

Scotrail's Thyrons have a simcard installed though I'm not sure what extra functionality they provide. We have a system of conductors and ticket examiners filling out customer details in 'card declined' reports, and these reports seem to be on the increase of late.

Hamilton West to Bridgeton via Argyle Street

Yes this is valid. I presume you are referring to travel on the Larkhall to Dalmuir limited stop services? This is a valid route for your season ticket and you can ask for a print - out of your journey at any station in case you get any grief from the ticket examiners on - train.

Two Together Railcard returns 3 March 2014

Got the new publicity through today for the Two Together railcard, seems this will be very popular indeed. The only restriction is that journeys cannot be made between 4.30am and 9.30am Monday to Friday. Cost is £30 bucks, roll out from 1 March apparently.

Special needs children denied free first class upgrades

Whilst I appreciate there is an element of one-sidedness and perhaps exaggeration in the reporting, I am aware that a female conductor on these services is making a bit of a name for herself in the passenger-unfriendly stakes. I am certain, if this report refers to the same individual, that this...

    SPT Roundabout

The SPT Roundabout is indeed sold as a CDS, with the departure station being any in the specified area of validity. If buying at a booking office in Strathclyde, entering the code I225 as the destination in Star will bring up the desired ticket, which costs £6.30.

Can someone be banned from using the railway?

I hear Peter Young is back on the scene in the Glasgow area, Disabled railcard at the ready. No cheques please!
