I've heard that Chiltern are making people take the assessments again, even if you completed and passed the revised ones last year with them. Anyone else heard that? I wouldn't be chuffed to have to do the SJE again, when it's such a challenge getting through in the first place.

Hi, I see from the London Midland website that they are recruiting again for various roles, does anyone know about the status of the trainee driver roles? A lot of people completed the assessments over the Xmas period, me being one of them so would be interested of any updates if anyone knows...

I see that DBS will check if you've failed the tests etc. Will they take into account tests you have already passed, so you only have the DM interview and medical? I have seen that FGW will insist you retake all tests with them, do DBS also require this?

Unfortunately it takes time, if you look around this site you will see the many complaints about the process! I am still waiting for an interview with LM after completing the first stage of assessments in December. Don't know why it has gone quiet though, unless someone else who maybe works in...

I see London Midland are looking for trainee drivers at Worcester. The assessment/interview etc dates are very rigid; makes you wonder, if they want the 'best' candidate surely that person may be in a responsible role and can't make such short timescales, and so many days?

I did get the message about being placed in a talent pool - but a presentation? That's new, and 10 mins is a long time when you are doing a presentation!

When I failed CBI first time round I got feedback on which area I didn't pass - for example what I must have given for following rules was a fail. Hopefully they will lay it out like that for you - it helped me. It does seem like you've 'missed the chance', but TOCs seem to be recruiting fairly...

I also find it tricky to attend all the assessments required - nothing to do with my ability to be flexible and work shifts. Some TOCs appear to be slightly better than others, but certainly with the number of candidates they will always be able to get enough people at the various sessions.

Do they recognise passes from other TOCs?

What if you are working and you have set holidays, and you cannot have time off to attend all the assessments etc without pulling a sick day? What if you even disclose this at interview, will it still be recorded as a sick day and count against you?
