    Rust (on signaling diagram)

Yes, for all intents and purposes, :-) if that section was 'protected' by an Auto, then it could of course give a false clear, holding the prvious controlled stops that scenario

    Rust (on signaling diagram)

Not allowed past the previous controlled signal, until the train has passed clear of the signal ahead of the affected track circuits.

Dangerous Goods Train Derailment At West Ealing 05/04/24

Rest assured an 'empty' train is treated the same as a full train, in fact it can be deemed more dangerous !

simplified for general public understanding ?

Dangerous Goods Train Derailment At West Ealing 05/04/24

Empty can be worse than full, but the initial incident will have been a full Dangerous Goods Incident, hence all rods blocked.

    GEML delays near Ilford (28/03)

This seems to be the reason.... staff on site at Ilford CS L/E Jn confirms scaffolding has collapsed from a construction site into the wires on the Up main. Down Main is obstructed with the fallen equipment.

ECML Signalling Systems Failure in the Newark area (06/03/2024)

The retro-reflective strips that adorn H-Viz are also indentical for everyone, maybe those who work on the railway need to have something of a different design

ECML Signalling Systems Failure in the Newark area (06/03/2024)

Maybe the Railway needs an individual type of Hi - Viz clothing, items used now seem to be generic, the same is worn by every Tom, Dick and Harry, so they could be lineside, a train passes, and would not even think twice about the people he could see

ECML Signalling Systems Failure in the Newark area (06/03/2024)

Looks like someone has nicked a load of cable ! That'll stop the job whatever the system....not a 5 min fix

Question about level crossing barrier timings

Haughley, level of road traffic dictates CCTV not required, although that could change in any resig design, plus if you had CCTV at Haughley, the barriers would be down a lot longer, just leaving Stowmarket on the down, and on the Up when a train is passing Cow Green or leaving Elmswell.

Question about level crossing barrier timings

Older signalling systems can do this, but the newer H&S safety regulations mean that if there is a crossing and its at the end of the platform, the crossing has to be clear, you can run in on a red, but in most, not all, cases the barriers will still be down on approach. Resignalling on the...

    "I'm a Signalman, not a Signaller!"

It is, and it's where they got the idea from I assume,

That'll be the UKPN 132kv supply throwing a wobbly earlier :-)

    "I'm a Signalman, not a Signaller!"

If I recall correctly (probably not!) when the ROCs were first mooted, and the method of working within planned, they were going to be called 'dispatchers' :-)

Railway Touring Company - Check Terms & Condition before you book!

Reading the OP's post again, and reading between the lines, I don't think they read the T&C's before booking the trip, which of course many do not. not only with tours like this, then get burnt, when it goes wrong, the illness was long term, and they would know it could cause issues, so taking...

Paid for e-ticket - phone died, penalty fare issued, first appeal unsuccessful.

Refused entry at the door, to work the same on the railway, you will need to show all tickets before accessing the platform. ideally doing away with the electronic gates, and having the barrier manned with 'check in' staff, if your phone cannot display a valid ticket for any reason, will then...

Is railway run for engineers or passengers, and who should advise disruption

Just scrap any major engineering, and wait until there is a crash, and possible fatalities, then they can go and fix it. The Railway is maintained for the benefit of the passengers, its obvious, so a car park is reduced for a few weeks to enable to this to happen, it's life these things happen...

    Drivers v Signallers

When they visit Colchester Box, which is quite rare now, they have the chance to visit the simulator room too, there they could sit with a Signalman, or Manager, and have a go at signalling trains, with assistance of course 8-) when they pop back onto the ops floor, they suddenly had a new...

How does cadging a lift on an ECS move fit in with any insurance ? as it's not a passenger move, or a booked travel move, you are on thin ice ?
