Paper ticket for one part of a journey

Split ticket Birmingham New Street to thirsk, split at Wolverhampton , Stafford , stoke in Trent and Manchester Piccadilly as here I booked each component on the TPExpress site ( Cashback & nectar points!). What I don’t understand is why one part of the journey , I can’t remember which bit...

All seat reservations activate part-way through GWR journey

Frequently travel on the 0652 or 0852 Avanti services from Edinburgh to Birmingham. More often than not the reservations don’t appear until carstairs or Lockerbie! That may well be due to the rather poor mobile service en route

Less than 50% of delay repay being claimed

I too always claim, with LNER the whole process can be automated. I remember being on the 1900 Kgx Edb and had my automated refund in my bank before I realised it was to cancelled at Doncaster

ECML blocked at St. Neots? (19/10)

Might be the wrong place to put this but ….. Booked first advance on the 1900 to Edinburgh. Train rammed absolutely no chance of getting on . If I book a hotel and stay until tomorrow, can I recover my hotel cost from LNER ? I cannot stand through health reasons to Edinburgh. Any advice...

    Caledonian Sleeper

Sorry I forgot, Slept well, very well indeed to be fair, woke up at Crewe momentarily but went back off again and was woken by my alarm at 630 to discover we were already at Euston having arrived about 5 minutes previously. Bed Length, I could stretch out fully without any problem, I don't...

    Avanti v LNER

And I would choose LNER for exactly the same reasons! 1695753732 Many thanks for that

    Avanti v LNER

I wasn’t thinking of the route to Euston, spending about a couple of hours extra is just daft and with care LNER are much cheaper with split advance firsts. I regularly go to or change at New Street and I just perceive it to be slower 1695752589 Ah that really explains a lot thank you But it...

    Avanti v LNER

Having recently moved to Edinburgh and making many journeys south I have travelled in both companies services regularly I make the following observations 1. West Coast is invariably slower 2. Dwell times on the west coast seem longer than on the ECML Why is this? The first has been discussed...

A bit of common sense and understanding might have been nice.

Hello again, Avanti refunded the Rugby - Edinburgh advance single in full through their automated Delay Repay system. The Automated system would not accept the Glasgow - Edinburgh claim so used their Customer communication facility. Got an email this morning reporting they are sending a cheque...

A bit of common sense and understanding might have been nice.

Ah I see some confusion here The scheduled arrival for the Avanti service at Edinburgh was 2221 , but was redirected to Central and arrived at 2212 (and a bit by my watch) I did indeed get the 2245 which was itself delayed but not significantly, frankly I had past caring by this time 1691870161...
