Well, that was a waste of time. I went into Clinton's on Saturday. They didn't have a single "Happy Train Drivers' Day" card in the shop. Must do better.

    Level Crossing stupidity

Today on BBC Breakfast there was an item about a 5 year old lad doing a sponsored walk in aid of an air ambulance. All very admirable. A series of stills were then shown to illustrate his outdoor pursuits. I have attached a screenshot of one such showing him on a double track railway. This does...

    Central locking for heritage trains

According to the latest "Moors Line",the NYMR has achieved Regulation 4 and 5 exemptions for a further 5 years on Mk 1 rolling stock. The article suggests that there is no immediate need to fit CDL but acknowledges it could well be needed in the not too distant future.

NYMR and Esk Valley line musings

It's all hypothetical anyway. The NYMR has not renewed its passenger carrying safety case between Grosmont and Battersby this year. The line's capacity is severely constrained by the long block sections and also, possible plans by Northern to improve the service.

Black Bull Level Crossing On The Old Pickering To Malton Line.

Indeed, there is a video of the last 03 hauled freight to Pickering in 1966.This seems to be from it,whilst noting that only 1 track appears to be in use and the train crew are operating the gates.

Would Closed Rail Links In England Reopen?

Deary me. We're back in fantasy land. Nearly everbody arrives at the NYMR by car. Indicative of this is the fact that the former trout fishing business next door has filled in all its lakes to create extra car parking for NYMR passengers, and seems to be doing good business.
