Polmont is to have 4tph to Glasgow (2 via Cumbernauld) and 4tph to Edinburgh? Luxury if true! When I think of my childhood in the 50s and 60s waiting for ages for a train to Glasgow with my parents, we would have been glad to have seen ' any ' train. From memory many went via Grahamston. True...

Better to think of Scotland as having a fairly dense population of 3million or so in it's well-connected central belt, with two or three large cities outwith it ! Longannet is very accessible!

Your parents! This thread has got me raking in old cupboards and my mid-60s certificate is simply labelled ‘Ordinary’ but we called them O’Levels and they were awarded by the Scottish Certificate of Education Examination Department!

At school in Falkirk (1960s) I made several crude observations: Cam-Lun was for teachers and the aspiring middle class (so could be safely disregarded!), Came-Lun was for children heading for O’levels, Kem-Lin was for (ahem) the rougher sort. (Cam-eh-Lon etc was and is quite simply wrong!)...

I thought the works were to facilitate 4tph between Stratford and Angel Road - plus active provision for Crossrail 2 which will surface just south of T Hale?

What site is earmarked for Winchburgh? I'm assuming it's to the east of the tunnel.
