Why have TPE extended some trains beyond Newcastle to Edinburgh?

Not overly to be fair from Edinburgh, but after Newcastle it was busier. It's become noticeably busier after Leeds.

Why have TPE extended some trains beyond Newcastle to Edinburgh?

I'm not complaining. I'm on the 1732 from Edinburgh-Liverpool train now, having taken advantage of TPE's £1 sale. I live in Maghull just north of Liverpool, but I'm back in Huddersfield for a few days. The fact that I could travel without changes both ways has been great. Also, as I now live in...

RSM Cross Country Leeds - Assesment

Did you have an interview at the same time? My friend was on your assessment.

    Leeds based XC Customer Hosts

Sorry first of all as I don't know the exact title of the role, but I'm talking about the trolley person here. A friend of mine has had their assessment and interview for the above position, and has been told that a typical day for Leeds based crew will involve trips as far as Glasgow and...

    employment with criminal record

I also had a criminal record for assault (I didn't hit anyone by the way) which didn't receive a custodial sentence. I got a fine, Community Payback, and probation meetings for 2 years, which actually ended a year early. My sentence is now spent, however, I believe for offences that include a...

    TPE £1 trip problem

I have come back via Avanti to Preston, following ticket acceptance. I chanced my arm on the 1226 Preston-Ormskirk train where I'm pleased to say the conductor was more than accommodating to the situation, so no fare had to be paid. I will email Northern as she was great. I can deal with my...

    TPE £1 trip problem

I bought a ticket to/from Glasgow from Liverpool for travel today. My train was 0812 from Liverpool, giving me exactly 5 hours in Glasgow before my 1629 train back. Due to overhead line problems we had to terminate in Carlisle, by this point 30 mins down. There was no replacement coach service...

Most Depressing Stretch of Line on the Network

Actually the Moorfields to Sandhills section is OK. I like the sea view from there.

    Landslip Weaver Junction

What would have happened to the passengers on the last train from Glasgow to Euston who were dumped off the train at Preston?

    Landslip Weaver Junction

What would have happened to passengers on the 1840 Glasgow Central-London Euston? It left Glasgow 45 minutes late and terminated in Preston 59 minutes late, with seemingly no connection to anything south. Would they have taxied passengers as far as London?

Most Depressing Stretch of Line on the Network

I'm happy to say that in 2006 when I lived in Nottingham, I was seeing a girl from Knottingley. I used that station twice a week without incident, including at night. You were right, the 141 were green and cream back then. Hideous trains.

    Lineside fly tipping

Biodegradable things like grass cuttings is fine. You weren't throwing mattresses, old electrical items and children's toys over.

    Lineside fly tipping

Totally agree with you on this. Surely there must be evidence amongst most of the rubbish to prosecute the scumbags.

    Most exhilarating station approach

I quite like the entrance to Nottingham from the west. Castle Marina, then the nice properties in The Park, with the castle on the hill. I also like the approach to Manchester Victoria from Liverpool. Lots of new buildings going up, with new ones every time I pass.

I used to use that line a lot and stopped looking out of the window for that reason.

Most Depressing Stretch of Line on the Network

6 pages in and nobody has mentioned; Moorfields (Well, just north of it) to Waterloo, on the Merseyrail network. Also, Sandhills to Aintree. Birkenhead North to Birkenhead Park. Over the Pennines, Huddersfield to Batley. Definitely agree with the Leeds to Bradford Interchange line.

    Lineside fly tipping

I'm currently watching a You Tube driver-cam video posted very recently showing a journey from Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport. On the approach to Lancaster you can see horrendous fly tipping almost next to the track, and down the embankments from people's houses on the Rylands estate...

    Liverpool To Glasgow train type

Haha. How strange? I was about to post the same question myself. Bit disappointed it's a 185 though. Wires all the way but yet diesel stock! Ah well!

    Northern Trains new franchise.

Same here. I actively avoid using them if at all possible for this reason.
