Edinburgh Tour Operators: Bright Bus, Lothian (Majestic, Three Bridges) etc.

I understand the relationship between the owner of Forth Boat Tours (FBT) and Lothian soured, which led to Lothian withdrawing their service and FBT reaching out to Bright Bus.

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

The 514 is funded via developer funding (as is the M7), which goes through the relevant planning authority and doesn’t come out of SPTs budget for subsidised services. However, SPT manage the procurement process in the same way that they do any of their other tendered service contracts. The...

    Labour's Plan for buses

Funding is the key, not the framework in which it is delivered. Any party that radically alters the funding available should see the benefits.

    McGill’s Midland Bluebird

They closed all the local area offices quite a number of years ago and centralised everything at Leeds. Edinburgh was the only local office they kept open, but a long serving employee recently left and they seem to have decided to move the Scottish area office to Leeds too.

    Build Quality of New Models

Could be, but whichever way round, it was down to the availability of the preferred seats.

    Build Quality of New Models

That is correct. The initial batch came with ‘standard’ Yutong seats, with later batches having seats to McGill’s specification. This was largely down to availability at the time (post-covid) and the desire to have them prior to COP26.

    McGill’s Midland Bluebird

Primarily because a recent update from the app provider means that cancelled journeys now show up when you’re searching for live times at your bus stop, but the fact that there are a lot fewer now is also relevant.

    Flixbus Discussion

Other than it operating on a FlixBus service at the time, FlixBus isn’t really a contributing factor. It’s more likely that human error or a mechanical issue will have contributed, but you’d assume that will all be part of the investigation.

Edinburgh Tour Operators: Bright Bus, Lothian (Majestic, Three Bridges) etc.

They do a few options, but primarily out to Inchcolm Island and/or the 3 bridges. More info on their website. https://www.forthtours.com/cruises/

The previous registration may have been withdrawn, but new registrations can be submitted. ;)

Edinburgh Tour Operators: Bright Bus, Lothian (Majestic, Three Bridges) etc.

The Bus and Boat Tour will be returning for the summer, primarily to meet with the boats.

Strathclyde SPT Bus Reform / Franchising

I don’t think it’s the operational side of it that is the major issue, but more about the acquisition/confiscation of the business that many operators have built up over many years, often with significant investment. If that was done using appropriate market value rates, then I suspect there...

Strathclyde SPT Bus Reform / Franchising

Provided those public hands aren’t grossly underfunded. Ownership and regulation change will make relatively little difference. However, any option properly funded has the ability to bring about noticeable changes.

    ZEBRA 2 Discussion

It is £143m to make the replacement buses zero emission, rather than diesel. Nothing to do with the level of service provision.

Strathclyde SPT Bus Reform / Franchising

However, they make the point that they take very little in dividends, with any profits being largely reinvested in new buses.

    Transdev Blazefield

That’s strange, as it defaults to my location when I open it, and I’m a long way from Starbeck!
  17. S

    Transdev Blazefield

On the old (Passenger app) defaulting to your location is based on the settings on your phone, not within the app itself. Sounds like your location settings didn’t allow it to use your location ‘while using’ or ‘always’.

    Transdev Blazefield

It was indeed Passenger that supplied the previous Transdev Go app, and they are widely considered to provide the best apps within the bus industry. Rise Digital Media are an already established supplier, albeit with much lower ratings, so I’m little surprised there appear to be so many things...

    They don’t, and never have.

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

That is incorrect, but this is not a forum for discussing the finer details of such an incident.
