Absolutely, the cost for a loop at Rhiwbina can't be astronomical, although I am aware that there's already a project overspend. I wonder if this is pencilled in for a future date. It's quite a jump from a single 153 to put 3 car 756s on the Corytons, when 2 tph is not going to attract a load...

Why is the VoG line 2tph being deferred again? Doesn't seem like it should be very difficult to achieve and this deferment is not helping the WG owned Cardiff Airport's accessibility.

I think that the documents are just attached as part of the original planning application and assume there will be some minor changes to drawings. There will be some extra platform and street furniture added as well apparently.

There was a planning application last week to change some details on the Cardiff Bay and Butetown station plans. It's being value engineered to remove the porticos at the station entrances, seems a shame to reduce the visual impact of having new and hugely improved stations on the line. Link to...

Some information on expected opening dates for Cardiff's new stations, it does state that Ely Mill is cancelled but it seems that it actually lacks funding. The Cardiffian article

It's good to see dates and they aren't too far away, with enabling works starting this autumn and construction in 2025.

Got a 3 car (with standard plus) 197 from Swansea to Cardiff yesterday, it was bound for Manchester and then everyone was turfed off at Cardiff. Looked like onto a 150 on platform 1, I didn't envy them. The 197s are pretty comfortable, it's just a shame about the horrendous lighting.

I'm not sure that anyone would go to the considerable trouble of faking it!

That land has planning permission for phase 2 of the John Street development, it will be a c. 100m tower including a hotel, office space and apartments.

I've just watched a video on You Tube and stations not upgraded still have Arriva blue everywhere and no new signs. This is a bit poor after having 9 months possession of the line.

So no trains between Pontypridd and Treherbert Sun-Thu late evening, the last train from Cardiff to go direct will be 19:05. A bit disappointing that there will still be bustitutions after such a long closure, and there's no end date mentioned for this either.

I don't see any benefit, it just causes a big diversion for passengers entering the Crossrail station. I've not seen huge crowds bunching up at either entrance. Whitechapel has only just started using the middle escalator to the Crossrail platforms bi-directionally depending on the flows, so...

Plans were submitted long whole ago to extend Ty Glas, no idea if anything's been started yet. Judging by the Crwys Rd construction progress, probably not. The 756s have a long range on battery, hence why they'll be able to run from Queen St to Barry/Bridgend in future, so getting to Rhymney...

It's not ideal for the Rhymney line users but I assume it will be pretty short term. As the 398s come into service from the end of the year the 756s can go to Rhymney.
