    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

MR is correct. I would be very surprised to see any journey time reductions, particularly on the Cov corridor end, though you may get the odd 30s up towards Rugeley. Any tidying up will be done post full introduction, May 25 at the earliest I would guess.

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

The correct plans for utilisation have been posted previously, including Rugeley - Intl being 730/0, and Potteries being 350.

Why don't East Midlands Trains stop at St Albans?

Pretty much as you say. You had to make very sizeable time savings to make significant inroads to the Nottingham market (and vv slow down for losses) and that just wasn’t possible. As someone said upthread it should be accepted rail can’t be the best option for all journey permutations -...

Why don't East Midlands Trains stop at St Albans?

The concept of a Kettering call was assessed in great detail as part of the MML 6tph LDHS. Ultimately, the core timetable we have now is the one that generates the most new passenger journeys, delivers the greatest commercial return and is, in my view, therefore the most optimum to the railway...

    June 2024 Timetable Change

Other way round. The new limited stop service goes opposite the TFW service, so xx22/52 from New St and xx30/00 from Shrewsbury, same calling pattern, plus Shifnal for the WM additional now with quicker 196 stock. The all stops goes via Bescot, xx40 from Shrewsbury and xx26 from New St.

Two red buttons in the driving cab, they seem like the ideal solution to quick efficient and safe release.

Northern: DO NOT TRAVEL 24th & 31st December

It’s a bit difficult when this all happens in the week leading up. Staff will have seen the 7 Day markup issued over the weekend for next Sunday, and chucked in their job. All processed early this week by resource teams, timescales are what they are. By the time you’ve done assurance, planning...

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Current base position for the fleet is as follows for both /1 4 car and /0 2 car sets. 5 x /1 Shrewsbury 5 x /1 Hereford 2 x /1 Camp Hill (neither yet accepted from CAF) 2 x /1 Maintenance (totals 14/14) 2 x /0 Nuckle 2 x /0 for future Hereford peak services (yet to be reinstated post Covid)...

Marston Vale line suspension over - FULL services start running 19/02/24

Unfortunately that is not the whole picture, as is often the case with limited information in the public domain. Well over 50% of the platforms on the line across 7 of the stations would require either an alteration to the signalling system (inc level crossing interactions) or a physical...

3 Voyagers in Euston Platform 1 today

Used to be a few years ago for at least one timetable period. Ex Euston, 1603 5-221 sat on top of 1620 9-390 as part of WTT. Plat 15. I think there were other permutations as well for short periods, but I don’t recall them lasting long or the original being a reliable plan, as set swaps at...

Marston Vale line suspension over - FULL services start running 19/02/24

As per one of the previous updates from the website, the service is beginning with 14 Drivers. Given normal spare ratios are 3:1, that’s about the bare minimum (2 required for the morning, 1 afternoon). These being all the drivers who remain who signed both the line and 150s previously. One...

    LNW Trent Valley services

Has to be xx20, the 16 calls at Watford. You’re out by a few minutes by Rugby, on a clean path you’d be in at xx16, the down Glasgow is through at xx17. Would get knocked at Stafford if you pathed it out. From memory getting in and out at Attleborough and Stafford was what really kills it, you...

    LNW Trent Valley services

From the data in front of me, Tamworth is single biggest Ons/Off flow after MK. No reasonable alternative to join/detach, largely clean paths, seems optimum solution to me. No ASDO, just UDS being used as intended. For anyone who bleats otherwise, SWR has used 4 from 12 quite happily since...

    LNW Trent Valley services

But thats not achievable as no capacity, so what’s the alternative? As I recall, weekend Trent Valley services are among the most overcrowded in DfT franchised TOC land so this is entirely unsurprising.

    Eurostar seats

    1. Can’t remember. 2. No, but with a copious amount of paperwork could be demonstrated to substantially meet the intent of the requirements. 3. Yes…. But. The seat support design is highly customised for the e300. The seat for the e320 was the original and backworked as I understand it. The...

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

This is the plan as I understand it, with additional peak services from London handled by both fleets.

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

No, Rugeley - Intl will be 730/0. The two can work together (or will be able to post software mods) but I doubt it will be done for anything other than clearing the line type activity.

Making people stand behind the yellow line for departure

Get yourself down to Wimbledon, Earlsfield, Clapham Jn or Vauxhall, where the tried and tested way of doing this is having 2-3 staff constantly patrolling and enforcing the yellow line. Due to consistency, I found shouting or bad interactions to be rare, and when they did happen it was almost...
