Why is there not so much interest in the Night Riviera compared to the Caledonian Sleeper?

It's a curiousity to me that the Caledonian sleepers now have threads going back 279 pages, and yet there is very little about the Cornwall train, pleasantly refurbished, running efficiently, now with functioning lounge bar again (possibly the only legal functioning indoor bar in England?)

Delay Compensation. How long should I wait?

Sept. GWR delay-repay claim, first response Dec.

Finally managed to speak late last night to a very helpful and competent assistant, who looked up the emailed reply references on the system; the reply today was "I can confirm that I am going to send you a cheque for £192.75 and £50 rail travel vouchers ", the vouchers being unasked for, but in...

Nothing further received by email or otherwise, what should I do next?

Sept. GWR delay-repay claim, first response Dec.

Total absence of response, this just to let you know that I will post again if ever something happens.

Sept. GWR delay-repay claim, first response Dec.

Well, when I first telephoned they made a point of sending me an email with an attachment for compensation to be filled in and returned by post, so I rather assumed that they recognised some sort of potential entitlement. Where precisely am I supposed to copy all my correspondence from home? I...

Should OAPs and Disabled get free train travel?

It is not only harsh but very offensive.

    Night Riviera

As it happens, I booked online, yesterday, two solo berths for travel from Paddington to Penzance tomorrow (Sunday) night, which were available with super off peak singles at £41.30 each with SNR railcard. The offer of berths, or indeed seats, came up as usual on the next screen after ticket...

Virgin Trains (West Coast) shuts down CR call centre number & uses 'LiveChat' feature

43 miles from Charing Cross, we have no mobile signal from any company, and supposedly "super-fast fibre" gives us something around 4 Mbps (if the land line is not down), so you should think before you are so dismissive of people relying on telephone calls.

    Complicated delay-repay

On Sunday, our intended journey (2 passengers) was Dumfries 1300 to Inverness 1905, via Carlisle, Glasgow C. and Q.S., then changing at Perth for Inverness. The Perth to Inverness was announced on train at about 1810 to be terminating at Aviemore "due to a broken rail, and buses would be...

ticket validities back in the olden days

Yes, early '70s, cheap weekend fare from Ely to Yatton (past Bristol) was available, staff at Cambridge were not supposed to sell it but did.

    Serco for Sleeper

Thanks, Furrball, do they, as with the previous management, give you a booking reference over the phone? I can't find anything on the site about online booking but don't need a booking at the moment (already booked to Inverness next Wednesday) , so will be interested to discover what happens...

    Serco for Sleeper

I haven't managed to speak to anybody for the last couple of months, since I'm not prepared to hang on for more than 10 mins., and whenever I ring they are "experiencing high demand." They no longer take Calsleeper Flexi berth reservations over the phone anyway, but leave you to fill in a...

    Great western franchise specification consultation

Unfortunately, I fear the decision to reduce the number of first class carriages to only one will quickly kill of the Pullman restaurant. It was chaos on Monday morning (19.5.14) travelling first class from Par 11.07 to Paddington. The staff were very good, but trying to rearrange all the...
