Online and Downloadable UK rail maps

Have you looked at using an OpenStreetMap transport layer? You can download the data but you would have to do some work to get it in the right format and host it offline.

    Wem Station, Shropshire.

If you have a look at old-maps.co.uk, and click on the 1926 1:2,500 it looks like there might be a footbridge at the station, just north of the station building. It doesn't appear on their earlier or later maps.

Does the East Coast Mainline sit entirely west of the prime meridian?

If you visit the UK map at RailMapOnline.com, then select the OS 1920s map (drop down list at top left), at zoomed-out levels the map includes Lat,Long lines every 0.5deg. Not quite a "meaty big line", but might help. Once you zoom-in it reverts to an OS grid. You can also see the position...

    Rail Map.....All lines!!!

Found a picture of a lift at Greenwich Pier: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bu_udxcCIAAQWVb.jpg:large If this is the one, then despite being on rails, I think I'll discount this one.:) For Old Bill, you can't switch between closed and open lines. Its a "feature" of the map that it shows all...

    Rail Map.....All lines!!!

I've been away for a couple of weeks, so have only just got round to updating the maps. For L&Y Robert I've refreshed the area around Burnley, highlighting the tramways in light green and finding some new tramways. For 1018509 I've added in Edisford Bridge miniature rly. Thanks to all those...

    Rail Map.....All lines!!!

Merstham Valley Rly added, and also updated the Middleton Rly and added the East & West Yorkshire Union Rly. Sources of information vary. I started by using old maps and reference books I collected over the years or borrowed from libraries, but more recently almost everything is available...

    Rail Map.....All lines!!!

Dobwalls Miniature Rly and Gorse Blossom Miniature Rly now added (albeit a best guess at the track layout). Thanks to 'plymothian' for spotting they were missing. You may have to refresh your browser to pick up the latest map.

    Rail Map.....All lines!!!

What's included - well basically if you can ride it then it's included. However, I have ruled out the following in order to keep the workload a little more manageable: - Old, urban tram lines. Simply too much work at this stage to include all the vast tram networks. However, some of the...

    Rail Map.....All lines!!!

Just seen all this interest in the site. Thanks to all those who have visited and provided feedback. The interface is a bit clunky at the moment. It's evolved over the past year with new features bolted on, so apologies to those of you who have found it difficult to find all the features...

    New Railway Map Website

Hi Karl, good spot, think I miss-read an old OS map that appeared to have the line turn and follow Croston Rd. I've corrected the carriage sidings. Also added in a north link between the Farington Fork and Farington station that appears on early maps. I'll update the map later today...

Hi Paul - thanks for the feedback. I've added in the missing railways, and updated a few of the mineral lines in the area. Never heard of the Winchburgh Electric Rly before - interesting operation! For the moment the small mineral branches are all depicted as owning to the connecting...

Keith - thanks for spreading the word. I see there is already a comment about the Cannock Mineral Rlys for me to chase up. Muzer - I've added in some of the old Blackpool tram routes, including the line to Lytham. Also a few other updates, mostly from the excellent feedback and...
