    EMR Class 360's

Neglect. Also, standard class on a 360/1 is quite a downgrade from that on the 222s that used to operate the route

    C2C class 720 updates

I think during the overtime ban they aren't used as not all drivers are trained to drive them.

    C2C class 720 updates

608 out again this morning. I'm on 604 behind it - two of the PIS displays in this carriage have already failed, the one to my left is off completely and the one on the right only has one of the 7 or 8 backlight segments working so you can't read half of it. I notice the displays on Anglia 720s...

Yeah 608 was my last one to track down as well, only ticked it off last week.

    C2C class 720 updates

They were in use at the end of last week, for sure. According to RTT they were also in use today so I'm not sure where you were looking.

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

At least they have a different seating layout. That's more than has separated some subclasses in the past, no?

    C2C class 720 updates

I've mixed opinions on that. The bulk of c2c traffic is peak services and if it means that at least the 720s stay reasonably tidy and clean for a bit longer then so be it. Obviously it shouldn't matter but given how neglected the 357s are, it'll only be a matter of time before the new stock...

    C2C class 720 updates

Lots of peak services don't, however, and peak services are pretty much exclusively where the 720s are currently being used

    C2C class 720 updates

Not really, it's equivalent to a 6-car, if such a thing existed. An 8-car definitely has more capacity, even if not by that much.

    C2C class 720 updates

I was aboard 1B21. No announcement about why we sat for 30 minutes before leaving. There was one attempt at an automated announcement but they haven't been programmed correctly so they're unintelligible. No manual PA whatsoever, presumably the microphones don't work yet. No visual indication of...

    C2C class 720 updates

Ah yes of course, the overtime ban would explain it. Presumably they'll reappear when that ends.

    C2C class 720 updates

The 720s don't seem to have operated the services they're allocated to this week anyway, with 12-car 357s in their place. Not sure what that's about.

    C2C class 720 updates

Hence the word 'audible part'. The effect being described only applies to lower speeds. There are plenty of IGBT waveform videos on youtube if you want to take a look - an effect similar to pulse width modulation at a specific frequency is normally used at lower speeds, which is what is easiest...

    C2C class 720 updates

Yeah that's definitely not the case in this instance - at the risk of going into excessive detail, the audible part of the drive electronics doesn't change with the gearing of the motors - for example it's still 2kHz for all Electrostars whether geared for 75, 100 or 110 and appears to be the...

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

"Surplus" while 5-car units still operate in the peak and leave people behind at platforms? The quoted post doesn't really make much sense to me either, you could run 4tph off-peak to Southend using 5-cars, but at present the peak is only 4tph as well, it used to be 6.

Can and will train seats become comfortable again?

I've flown on a few different aircraft in economy this year, the Virgin 787 and Finnair A350 were absolutely fine, I don't remember the easyJet A319 being too bad but the Wizz Air A320/321 were quite unpleasant. I'm not sure I'd write off airlines the same way I do train operators yet as it only...

    C2C class 720 updates

If that's true though, why are they not being utilised as such in a timetable change?

    C2C class 720 updates

Only 345s are different. 710s are broadly the same as 701/720/730s. I suspect it's the same traction package but the frequency curves were changed. Normally that's done for interference prevention reasons.

    EMR Class 360's

By carefully wording a question that says 'are you concerned about lack of available seats? Would you like us to make more seats available at peak times?' and doesn't mention how it is achieved.

    EMR Class 360's

Having used the 360/1s regularly when they were brand new and remembering what a huge improvement they were over the existing stock, it is kind of upsetting to see the state they're in (and that the /2s don't even still exist).
