Does the location of some depots detract from the running of the railway?

Out of interest does the driver having worked from Nottingham then work the 0748 departure to Norwich after say 30 minutes break?

First Group Sheffield - London via Retford open access proposal

For 2 return services per day & being faster than East Midlands Railway I.e. 2 hours then it’s only likely one unit will be required. One return journey AM, and another PM. Diesel to Retford & electric to Kings Cross, changeover in platform at Retford.

With the expansion of the ULEZ zone today, if this applied to the railway & diesel engines were banned within the ULEZ zone which services would be affected? I’m aware Marylebone is not electrified & there would be a big issue for freight but which other services would be affected & what...

    Trivia: High altitude bus routes

I have a distant memory of being sat in an Alexander (Northern) centre entrance single decker in about 1967/8 at Glenshee Ski slopes. This was a church youth group skiing trip staying at the Youth Hostel in Glen Isla. In sub zero temperatures at New Year the bus had struggled up the original...

Entire 800/801/802 fleet stood down for safety checks

I’ve not seen reading this thread how many coaches in each rake are affected in each rake. Is it one or many? There’s also been comment of shuffling coaches in sets to get a ‘good’ set. With modern electronics does a Coach D need to be replaced by another D or could a coach C be substituted?

Car on line at Stirling Station - 14th October 2020

Must have been at speed to ‘land’ on 4 wheels. A slow roll would have seen bonnet into ballast - front wheel drive with weight of engine.

    Junctions in Tunnels

Looking on Google Earth, Nunnery Main line junc. North of Sheffield is not visible. Whether the length of the underbridge counts as a tunnel. I’ve seen similar underground lengths classed as tunnels elsewhere.
