    HSBC supports Rotala’s acquisition strategy

Preston Bus was owned by Preston Borough Council from 1986 operated as an arms length bus company owned by Preston Borough Council. Preston Bus management bought the company in 1993. Bought by Stagecoach after a period of competition, and sold on to Rotala following a CMA enquiry. The current...

    HSBC supports Rotala’s acquisition strategy

Rotala bought Preston Bus as a going concern and the day to day operations are under the control of longstanding, totally professional, local managers, whose efforts are reflected in the fleet turnout and operations.

    Exact Fare Only Buses

I worked at Carlisle from 1969 to 1973 as a conductor and then driver when the depot went 100% one man operation. I don't recognise a lot of the above. Buses were diverted via the bus station between 1800 to 2000 where the vaults were changed by 'Bus Station Assistants' and placed in a lift up...

    Exact Fare Only Buses

That was the Videmat system. Ribble tried it on one bus on Carlisle City Services in the early seventies. Once the kids realised how it worked they used the smallest denomination coins to try and get the longest ticket.

    Preston Bus Station

The Bus Station opened in 1969, the number of bus services operated in those days were huge with virtually all stands in use. I suppose it's an object example of the decline of bus services in Lancashire over the last 49 years.

Why are the RMT so quiet on bus cuts?

The RMT represent driving staff in a number of bus companies across the UK. Either solely or jointly with Unite. So JCollins question is entirely valid.

I didn't know that. Which commercial services were withdrawn?

    First Group: General Discussion

I thought that might be the case. It does seems to be a case of give a dog a bad name, ignoring improved services like the 755 Morecambe - Kendal and running LCC Evening and Sunday Services 3A and 6 on a commercial basis.

    First Midland Bluebird

He's playing politics, any minister would, or should, be aware of T.U.P.E. (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations) which will apply to the transfer of depots between these companies.

    Cumbrian bus discussion

As well as ignoring the National Audit Office, which monitors Govt spending, you have also ignored the audit processes legally required of all local authorities. The thought of every local authority auditor missing large ENCTS over payments to operators is ridiculous.

    Cumbrian bus discussion

A very concise description of a very cynical government. In Lancashire a number of supported bus services have been withdrawn; currently, ongoing cuts have led to the sale of six library buildings whom LCC were unable to support financially and who were unable to enlist volunteers to run the...

TRIVIA: Bus routes/services that are no longer

I don't think Standerwick operated on the X43. The White Ladies were operated by Ribble and were a local coach version of the Standerwick Gay Hostess; no toilet or servery, smaller engine; the opaque windows covered the large luggage area required on summer services to Blackpool and Morecambe,

TRIVIA: Bus routes/services that are no longer

The X51 Morecambe - Southport was introduced along with the X61 Backpool to Manchester, connecting at the Preston hub when the Stagecoach Express concept was introduced and not as a result of 'driver problems at Preston and East Lancs'. A number of Morecambe Depot drivers worked at various...

Competition heats up between Transdev and Connexions

I entirely agree, scum describes the culprits to a tee. As well as the actual theft, these people have no thought for the inconvenience they would cause to the customers who use the service. It ranks alongside stealing lead off the church roof, or copper from the trackside.

Quite agree, I'm surprised that your concise response was thought to be rude.
