    Euston - Staines

Perfect. I had forgotten about that code as the way to force a journey from the wrong terminal / zone 1 to use the tube. 1693839449 Thanks. Will have a hunt. I originally had a look from South Hampstead and there are no fares available via Euston! :( Also looked from Watford and the off peak...

    Euston - Staines

Is it possible to buy a ticket for this journey (day return just after 9am, 1adult, 1 child (aged 13) F&F railcard) inclusive of Cross - London transfer by tube via waterloo/vauxhall, and onwards? Ticket websites imply it is possible but it is never clear to me if the cross-london tube...

Future of Ticket Office Consultations launched

Slightly tongue in cheek comment, but if you are going to restrict access for a variety of assistance needs etc, then why would anyone bother with creating level access, DDA compliant toilets etc... Will people question the logic of spending £££££ on that infrastructure if you follow through on...

Future of Ticket Office Consultations launched

Will WHSmith or Costa decide to go into ticket retailing?! Or should I!?!?

    Cambrian freight

On holiday in aberdovey. The sound of a big ol freight movement along the coast at about 2330 last night was impressive. How common is this ? More so in past few years with lots of track rebuilding ? Is there anywhere to check what this was and when there might be another ?

    Break of Journey..

Probably bad etiquette but its the same topic so I am going to ask another question on the same subject. With an off peak return from Liverpool to Southend I think I am right in interpreting that Break of Journey is allowed on the outward leg? So this means I can stop off in Stafford overnight...

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

An update. Finally got a letter back from Virgin today. Confirmation that the UFN has been withdrawn and the ticket was valid. Staff actions on the day described as "deeply regrettable". Slightly disappointing that there was no reference at all to the lines pedalled by RPSS since then.... An...

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

Thanks for further comments. I am generally hanging on from contacting others formally until I get a response from Virgin themselves. My patience on that avenue is running out fast but I am surprised I have had nothing back from them at all.

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

Got the really horrible final demand letter from RPSS today threatening with all sorts, even prison. Thanks a bunch - what happens to them if they in fact got it wrong:evil: Still no response from Virgin. Have re-sent complaint to them. Also hoping that another avenue of enquiry will come up...

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

Thanks for further comments all. I have seen a couple of old threads on here regarding similar issues in the past re Shotton and Upton etc. Just wondered if anyone had specific evidence of a previous climb-down from VT on this. I doubt I am the first to get stuck on this...? Thanks.

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

Well, a few weeks on I have had a letter back from RPSS (nothing back from Virgin Customer Services - not even an acknowledgement). In amongst what looks like a standard wording the substance of their response is: "I have spoken with Virgin Trains who have confirmed that the Unpaid Fare...

New fares anomaly favourite - bristol/tiverton/exeter

I have a new fares anomaly favourite. Bristol TM to Tiverton walk up cheapest single travelling off peak - a stinking £22.90. Or alternatively try a Bristol TM to Exeter walk up off peak single - £13.50.

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

If I hadnt been in a rush to get to a meeting I would have stuck around to see what the police made of the matter. I was also tempted to walk off but I foolishly hoped that reason would prevail. Calling the police myself would have been a smart move I have to admit. One thought has occurred...

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

Thanks for replies. Yes it was a Euston - Flint SVR. I intend to continue not to pay at this stage. I had a valid ticket! Re driving licence - yes. The guard was accusing me of fare dodging on the basis of not living in Flint. The final part of the story is that on questioning me on my...

Flint - London - Issue of unpaid fair notice

Long time lurker, first post - and in need of some advice. On Wednesday morning I was issued an Unpaid Fare Notice on grounds of "restricted ticket". I boarded the 08.29 departure from Crewe, arrival at Euston 10.04. My ticket was a return portion of an off peak return from London to...
