Southeastern Trainee Driver - All Depots - (20/09/21)

Bump. They resent that email stating they're still shortlisting for assessments, and it will be prioritised on basis of specific depot demands. There's movement clearly. Slow, but movement still.

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

St Albans sign through to Bedford. And fret not about the Sutton loop, grim faces is the look of any driver once they've booked on, regardless of route/TOC.

What would you say is the greatest challenge for a train driver?

Dealing with the Great British Public ™ But seriously, for me (I'm not a driver) it will be to deal with a Lewisham style incident (passengers detraining during disruption etc)

Southeastern Trainee Driver - All Depots - (20/09/21)

Thank you both a340egkk and ComUtoR for your responses. I'm not a driver but I work for GTR and know which depots on my patch are perennially and most like to have shortages, so wanted a gauge on the SE side.

Southeastern Trainee Driver - All Depots - (20/09/21)

@ComUtoR Hello mate, since you are thee go-to SE guy on this forum, what's the driver situation looking like at metro depots? Are there currently trainees in the pipeline? Any specific depots that have major shortages compared to others and traditionally have a higher driver turnover rate? Cheers

GBRF Trainee Train Driver - London

The posting seems to have been updated to reflect the requirement to live near Crewe, and the location is Peak Forest. Maybe Willesden was incorrectly listed to begin with and they've rectified the error?

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

Because it's the MMI, they'd only be worded different at best. I've done it twice and it was the same, and going by all these threads on this forum (spanning years), it appears the same six questions get asked. And as for if they ask different questions, you'd answer them the same way you...

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

The exact six questions you will be asked can be found all over this forum. See this thread, post #3: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/multimodal-interview-mmi.142360/ Good luck

Recommendation for boots to wear while driving trains

Yep, I prefer Magnum over what my TOC supplies. I always buy my own now.

Mainland Train Driver or Tube Driver?

I'm guessing employee relations, or something along those lines.

How many questions total for the DMI?

This is the most accurate description of a DMI interview. I'd even wager that your experience and non-technical skills (no matter how neatly you package it in STAR format) is largely irrelevant, and all that counts is the rapport between yourself and the interview panel.

Overground Trainee Driver - Harlesden and SE London, Feb '21 & Aug '21

Got a generic reply to the August advert, they're reviewing applications, and will update candidates if they're progressing with their applications in the next 2-4 weeks.

This was for the Southern shunter to mainline progression wasn't it?

Early Running Following Unplanned Mid-Journey Diversions

How long ago was this? This doesn't sound right, even if one line was blocked (i.e. train fault), there's also another line next to it. The guard/dispatcher sent the train early, this is certainly not something condoned by SWT/SWR.

    Ghosted after interview

Sounds like C2C. OP, I know it sucks but don't take it to heart. I've been through this once with C2C myself, and I didn't even bother chase them up regarding it. To be fair, I found most companies do send out the generic automated emails if you fail, but it's been known to happen where a...

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

Wow, I thought it was two only. Confirmed at definitely three years, but now five?! Come here and let me give you guys a kiss! Thanks for clarifying, appreciate it.

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

Is that a question or you're certain it's 5 years for GTR? Twotwo and c00k1e, thanks. I thought GTR's cap was two years, but clearly it's at least 3 which is amazing news for me personally.

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

Do you know how long they hold your assessment passes/MMI for? Do they accept a three year validity, or it has to be two or less?

    Passenger Complaint regarding Gender

I used to work for the same company the person who complained on Twitter works for, and when using the station tannoy I would always address everyone as "customers" for this very reason. However, the Twitter complaint seems a little too militant for my liking, even though I actually agree with...
