Why isn't the Elizabeth Line Core Driverless? (Ditto HS2)

There is the unattended reversing outside of Paddington bit. Not sure if it's yet in use though.

    London Buses Discussion

Really interesting thanks, I didn't realise it wasn't a choice that was being made. Explains why when I moaned at the driver he looked at the panel and shrugged his shoulders

    London Buses Discussion

Increasingly buses turning short have the short display on the outside but inside it has the whole route, and so does Google Maps. I'm wondering is it a Centre on instruction to do that? It's really really annoying

Car on Track near Motspur Park — Major Disruption to SWR Suburban Services

Nice pic. Could they not just've cleared people from the car and crossing, closed the car door and allowed the train to pass at walking pace before moving in to mop up the scene?

Car on Track near Motspur Park — Major Disruption to SWR Suburban Services

You can almost hear the Sat Nav saying "turn left" for the upcoming junction and the driver immediately obliged

    Fare Evasion - Sydenham - 13/12/2023

I'm surprised though the evasion isn't logged for inspector teams to target repeat offenders same time every day style. I agree and said it before that the staff appear totally disinterested at dealing with evaders and yet will happily pounce on a granny making a ticketing mistake

ECML South disruption - OLE down 09/12

    1992 stock Refurbishment?

A shame. I find the man's voice is easier to hear over rough paintwork etc

Evening Standard: TfL may use AI to catch fare dodgers

Best way I've done it is go slow, slow and leg it. 100% success rate that the gate closes on the tailgater

Are windscreen wipers on trains any good?

Semi-related to this and the topic. IIRC when the 321s were introduced from Euston I could've sworn the wipers were connected together on coupled units. I never understood why or how they managed to stay together.

Overcrowding at St. Pancras (EMR) 03/12/23

Difference being there's probably only 1 flight a day whereas I'll assume from what others have posted is EMR's view is they'll get you to your destination on a first come first served basis in the queue and you won't know which train you'll be on until the magic wardrobe door opens in front of you

Southern, Thameslink & Great Northern 'Not On Strike' Details

Live departure boards are pretty explicit too:

Euston departure board to be moved

Tells you the design was probably done by crowd control experts to suit extreme once a year conditions rather than people with railway knowledge suiting every other day of the year

    "Service reported as being busy"

Similarly using the station loos. All too often I see people on Southern extremely busy trains using the toilet for a seat and only reappearing as the train arrives at London bridge.

    Eurostar disruption 30th November

Such a shame they couldn't be walked over to the leShuttle terminal

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Indeed. Spouted and respouted as a fact! I'm really hoping these things get another good innings. It was just the thread had such an air of negativity until the recent drift.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Have I missed something? It felt the last 30 thread pages had a common theme of the ROSCO wanted to do the work, it was contracted for 4 units. Only 4 would be done. The drivers union were against introduction on the PDL but that's fine as SWR don't plan on using them anyway.

    1992 stock Refurbishment?

Thank goodness. Makes it more likely hopefully that the S Stock will get something decent too and not Barman

    No. See my post #58

Thameslink driver refuses to move train 16/11

You learn something every day. I always thought the yellow lines were to keep passengers away from platform edges on high speed lines because of suction risk and they had made their way onto slower speed lines over time to persuade people to keep a bit back. I didn't realise they are a formal...
