    Voyagers /Meredians

I think more people (much like yourself) probably just suffer in silence. For me it is mild nausea. It is my kids who cause a problem by physically vomiting all over the carriage! Fair point about the fresh air. Although that isn't going to happen, Pendolino carriages to me do seem especially...

I can only go on what I experience and see.

    Voyagers /Meredians

The combination of tilting plus tiny windows preventing the brain to properly register what is happening is a recipe for feeling sick. Most people just grin and bare it I suppose, the same way most people who attempt to read a book in a car would feel ill, so they just don't do it.

    Voyagers /Meredians

My kids physically vomit. My partner feels very sick. I sometimes feel sick. I have friends who have been sick. Just because some people are unaffected doesn't mean it isn't a problem. On that basis trains wouldnt have disabled accommodation. I think a big part of the problem is Virgin / Avanti...

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

While they are at it, why not quote Plymouth to London as Reading! Connects onto the Elizabeth Line, bus link to Heathrow and trains to Gatwick. That puts us comfortably under 3 hours now!

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

You got there before I could. Utter gibberish. The idea that having to change at Paddington puts people off Heathrow by train, yet the minute they can change at OOC they'll ditch the car is preposterous!

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

By that argument (that the north is more populated and economically important), we should be angling all spending at the south east. The fact is we need to begin to level this country up. The current s*it shower have no interest in doing that. Levelling up is not and should not just be throwing...

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

It's far from a race to the bottom in my eyes, it's just it gets boring seeing the same regions get all the spending , all the time. I spend a fair amount of time up north, so I'm not in some south west bubble. The amount of expenditure you see up there is mind blowing. Trust me, coming home to...

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

Hardly. I actually work on the railway. Unlike some armchair warriors I have actual first hand experience of the travelling public , and their experiences and travel patterns. At the end of the day statistics can be made to suit any argument (that's why we are probably stuck with HS2 in the...

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

You look on social media at what airports people are actually using. It doesn't tend to be Heathrow very often. Yes I am talking anecdotally. I'm not in a position to need to provide you any evidence.

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

In all honesty, yes I probably would drop Totnes and Tiverton, with the stopper picking up passengers from these two places. The passengers would then need to board London trains at Newton Abbot or Taunton. Not ideal, but that is the way you get the under 3 hour journey with the present...

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

Surely the answer is improve connectivity for south west airports, imagine if we had a new build line to Exeter or Bristol Airport, or perhaps, more realistically, a proper interchange at Quintrell downs for Newquay Airport. That would be money well spent. Newquay for example offers flights to...

Merseyrail legacy fleet updates (Class 507/508)

I appreciate we don't have a date, I was just wondering if anyone knows very approximately if we are looking at May, June , or perhaps even later....

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

Trouble with 0655 and 0555 is they are peak trains. So they cost a premium. Why should people need to pay a premium for a decent service?. The Plymouth to London service could be sub 3 hours with a bit of effort , yet some, think instead the journey should be slowed down. When I make the journey...

Merseyrail legacy fleet updates (Class 507/508)

Is there much chance of anything still running by June, or is May expected to be the end of scheduled passenger service?

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

Which stops in the West Country do you propose dropping? Don't you think if that was doable it would already have happened? 1713121960 This attitude makes my blood boil. Because the minute anyone suggests slowing down a train to Edinburgh or Manchester by even a few minutes and there would be...

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

Quite probably but there will be plenty of people out there desperate to find a reason why some kind of pragmatic solution such as this can't be found.

I also sampled 021 quite recently and thought it highly decent. 001 which stalked me non stop on the other hand, dear oh dear.

What is the point of Old Oak Common?

This is the point. Yes OOC is a little useful to some eastern locations like Oxford and Newbury, but surely there is means of stopping the Oxford and Newbury trains without needing to stop the Swanseas and Plymouths.
