    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

Indeed they have......so bearing in mind that some of those are Labour controlled authorities, you would think that an incoming Labour government would actually be party to settling this dispute

    ORR P-Code data releases.

Where did I mention staff quality? And in case you haven't noticed, there has been some significant industrial relations issues all over the UK rail network for a good while now.....shows no sign of abating either. I suspect we will still be having these well into 2025 or beyond

    ORR P-Code data releases.

Staffing issues......which has been done to death on here. Until the general climate of industrial relationships improve dramatically, then this will continue until further notice. It's that simple.

    ORR P-Code data releases.

Maybe so.....but still grim. TPE and Northern cancelling 100s of services a week. Obviously the right thing to do in letting the passengers know as soon as possible, but still...... Not really an advert for encouraging pax to ditch the car

    Looks grim up North

RMT turns down Network Rail Pay Offer

Never accept the first offer made.....RMT are perfectly entitled to reject this.

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

At my depot, any offer with strings attached would simply get rejected by members

    Avanti West Coast Cancellations

Having just made a journey from Euston to Manchester, I made the following observations. The platform at Euston wasn't announced until some 7 minutes before departure. This created a bit of a scrum going down the ramp. No tickets were checked. Train left 3 minutes late, and was then subject...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Needs to be a backdated pay rise with no strings which brings us up to date as far as salaries go. Anything to do with altering terms and conditions needs to be discussed locally as an item going forward. We are not immune to the fact that sometimes, working practices have to change , when this...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Completely agree with this. It really is that simple. All drivers I know say the same.

Mark Harper makes excuses over Northern's 24 Dec and 31 Dec failures.

Xmas eve and new year's eve 2023 is all our yesterdays. Hardly any conductor volunteered. Those that did were put on the busiest routes. It's that simple. The situation of lack of volunteers will continue until further notice. Totally irrelevant what some politician says......

Mark Harper makes excuses over Northern's 24 Dec and 31 Dec failures.

You are still not getting this are you..... There are some 40 Sundays between now and end of year. Those Sundays will see thousand's of cancellations on Northern services on the west side of the Pennines because conductors are not volunteering to work overtime....which they are perfectly...

Mark Harper makes excuses over Northern's 24 Dec and 31 Dec failures.

All the above is correct. What really should happen right now ( as pointed out by a few well informed posters) is Northern should introduce an emergency Sunday timetable based on running a small number of core routes reliably. This would mean vast numbers of stations on the west side of the...

Mark Harper makes excuses over Northern's 24 Dec and 31 Dec failures.

You seem to have a problem accepting a basic fact. That fact is if a conductor is not available for a particular service run by Northern, then that service will be cancelled. This is.a regular problem on Sundays as staff are quite rightly having a day off. No amount of you posting waffle on...

Mark Harper makes excuses over Northern's 24 Dec and 31 Dec failures.

As I'm privy to internal Northern documents, it' doesn't mean that an increase in staff numbers is what is required to cover Sundays inside......an alternative way of doing that is to simply increase the contract hours of the existing staff. That is the cheaper option, and in fact is a proposal...

Mark Harper makes excuses over Northern's 24 Dec and 31 Dec failures.

I really don't get this post......it's well known that Northern can not provide a reliable service on a Sunday. As an example, some 65% of conductor jobs at my depot today are uncovered. I don't blame conductors one bit for not volunteering to work what is a rest day......why should they when...

Are there any train drivers earning £100k or more?

The question is " are there any train drivers earning £100k or more ". The answer is yes.....but they have to work some quite significant amounts of overtime to get that figure. Most don't bother as they want a decent work/home life balance, which isn't particularly easy when you work the sort...

Train Leasing Profits Treble, £400,000,000 dividends

Nothing wrong with making a profit.

Attitude of neighbouring TOCs to an unreliable one?

Yes this is very true......most guards I know would generally accept other tickets in during disruption without being told to.
