    Local radio stations

The licences now roll over automatically if a broadcaster has a qualifying DAB service. Changing the terms of an existing licence to make a business unviable (which it would be if it was forced to be local) would likely end up in court. It's all academic though, there are now countless small...

Not a hope of that happening. Any government would find themselves in court if they tried that.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

I don't think it'd work, sadly. If precedent were set, it would open the floodgates: local councils wasting money on half baked pot hole repairs, the NHS in general squandering money. The list goes on.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

I wouldn't expect a guard, or any other member of rail staff to challenge a knifeman. So whether the train was DOO or not is neither here nor there.

Why thank you. Glad you liked us, I'll give you a shout out. We are on 92.3 in Ringwood and Verwood, 98.9 in Ferndown, Wimborne and West Moors.

    Class 43 disposals

    I have the following at Ely: 017, 020, 024, 174, 190,191, 309, 310, 311, 314, 315, 317, 318. Happy to be corrected.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

It's not necessarily zero sum for SWR. If anyone asks the question about whether this is admitting to a further extended delay to the 701s, I'm sure their publicity machine could spin something about the 458/4s eventually allowing a more rapid withdrawal of the elderly 455s, rather than a slower...

Just these two or the whole fleet?

    Royal Photo Controversy

I would like to say "slow news day" but there is important stuff going on that's been pushed down the running order by this. Domestically a sitting MP has defected to the Farage Party, and internationally Haiti is on the brink of a civil war. It's pathetic, once again the media is self obsessed...

    Royal Photo Controversy

I know what procedure she had done. Obviously I can't say on an open forum, but let's just say the conspiracy theories are just that. Theories, with no foundation in reality. She is not on her deathbed.

Merseyrail legacy fleet updates (Class 507/508)

Are 507013 and 507032 still around? I have them down as withdrawn, but it may be a mistake in my records.

    Local radio stations

That's what we're hoping for. But like pretty much all community stations we are not signed up to RAJAR due to the enormous costs involved, so getting accurate figures is always going to be difficult.

    Local radio stations

There are upwards of 150 community radio stations on FM and DAB in the UK. All run and operated by volunteers, yes the quality can be variable, but there are some good ones out there. Some are specialist interest (Southampton, for example, has Fiesta FM, which is Spanish cultural) but a lot of...

There's always us lot in community radio. We're not going anywhere, and OFCOM rules state we can't be sold :-)

    EMR Class 170 updates

I was going to ask the same, and I think recently there was one ex-Southern 170 still running about in old livery. Has this one been done?

Competition to name one of the Class 150s on the Marston Vale Line announced

How about naming the three of them "old", "dirty" and "late" (with apologies to Network Southeast circa 1993)

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

It would be nice to see one in NSE livery at some point (obviously with the door colour modifications needed to make them compliant for modern day use).

Post World War 2 - peoples views of Germany?

Psychologists have had a field day with this sort of thing for years. And many of their conclusions have been how malleable groups of people are when someone in "authority" tells them to do something unpleasant, and reassures them it's OK to do so. Look up the Milgram Experiment. It's scary...
