Strangest thing you've heard/seen on the rail network...

Looking back, seems likely. My guess is aspergers or another spectrum disorder, based on my own experiences when I was young. You eventually learn to control it.

Strangest thing you've heard/seen on the rail network...

Had an interesting experience on the metro lines out of LST the other day. School had just finished and about 5 kids aged 7-9 had just boarded at Forest Gate. Now I'm quite a large guy but most folks have the decency not to question or poke fun at me about it (aside from the occasional drunks)...

Where are the best trains spotting places (east anglia)

Ely and Cambridge are good places so I'm told, and I can see why. Mix of Diesel and Electric. Ipswich also a contender due to the high amount of freight traffic to and from Felixstowe.

    You sound like fun ^^

Photography locations for H&C steam special

Aha! I've seen you about before, think I'm subscribed. Hi there. I *might* have seen you at Baker Street, around 20 to 5 on the outer rail platform, at the east end of it. HDV Camera and monopod, right? Only guessing based on rapidly fading memory so apologies if wrong! I've edited my videos...

ALL the known Loco and Multiple unit nicknames

365's are sometimes referred to as "The Happy Train" due to cab-end AC. Never heard it in practice though. Can someone explain to me why the 43's/HST's are considered trams?

    Detailed Maps of the Tube

You seem to be in the know, where does he get all the data to build these impressive maps from? My curiosity is burning.

    Stupid photters

RE: C Stock tour @ Hammersmith, when it pulled in I had seen people tearing the line-maps down, which seemed to be going on across all the cars. After a few seconds of umming and ahhing I was told that there was an announcement that people could take the maps/signs down, which coincided with...

National Rail Equiries: Is it me or is it a bit broken as of late?

Yeah, railcard. Did I not mention that in the original post? Oops. That syntax is a killer at times though. In hindsight, specifying via HUN would have alleviated a lot of the issues had I not forgotten of its existence, as I'm able to find the same train easily. Still doesn't excuse NRE for...

National Rail Equiries: Is it me or is it a bit broken as of late?

Yeah, sounds similar to what happened here. I'll update as and when I know more.

    Questions about driving trains.

Question about the DVT's I've seen at Norwich, I've heard them often release a loud burst of air when arriving or just before departure, sounds like a long fart. What is it related to?

The Kings Cross hologram-a new form of torture

I'm nearly wholly convinced that the woman whose voice drones on and on with this things is the same one who voices the station announcements at KGX. Anne, I think her name is, but my friends and I often refer to her as "Anne-ouncer". I wish we had Phil Sayer.

Is your signature referencing the sweet sounds of the MetCam 465/466 and 365 classes (plus 96TS!)? I approve.

National Rail Equiries: Is it me or is it a bit broken as of late?

22nd August, CBG > SVG 9:55-10:40, with the SVG to MAN portion 10:55-14:02 Handy, cheers. Will do, if I can replicate it. All he sent to me was this, with the added note that it was a direct train (as one would expect) and that it was via Stansted Mountfitchet, though whether it was...

National Rail Equiries: Is it me or is it a bit broken as of late?

Can I get a second opinion on this? I know this is true if for example a journey between A and D gets disrupted due to A-B having problems, but that was if the ticket was non-split. FGW uses mixing deck like many others (though theirs seems best designed by far), and trainline uses a system...

National Rail Equiries: Is it me or is it a bit broken as of late?

Apologies if in wrong place, debated either posting here or the Fares section. Anyway, last month I was booking a journey from Cambridge to Manchester, specifying a change at Stevenage and avoiding London. Simple enough, right? Wrong. NRE would often "forget" my details or interchange my...

    Disabled Adult Railcards

If you're receiving Disability Living Allowance (subject to the criteria posted), then yeah. Oddly however, being in receipt of DLA isn't considered a criteria for a bus pass, yet being diagnosed with a learning disability does. Inversely, for a rail card, having a diagnosed learning disability...

    Gateline m-Ticket scanners at King's Cross/Cambridge

Care to elaborate? I often buy Super Offpeaks DR's but might be affected similarly. I hope mTicketing gets overhauled to overcome this rather persistent issues.

    Gateline m-Ticket scanners at King's Cross/Cambridge

That seems counter productive, surly a brighter screen means its easier to discern? Technology yo. Re: Fare evade, you could do that quite easily between CBG and KGX if you time it right. That's all I'm saying on the matter. For these tickets you do. I feel some folk in this thread think...

    Gateline m-Ticket scanners at King's Cross/Cambridge

They also work for the mtickets according to this. I hadn't considered that, shall definitely give it a go next time. That just negates the whole idea of the mticket system though, and if I'm buying my ticket *on the way to the station*, I'm not going to have a printer on me. Could argue...
