    South Wales 'Metro' updates

To.be fair it’s very hard to be able to make decisions regarding 1st and last trains. Maintenance teams also need access on a safe manner when no trains are operating..The earlier you run trains and the later they run. Reduces night access to the infrastructure which later down the line will be...

    GWR fleet procurement

Temporary stopgap maybe. 15x dont meet latest emission standards. Battery technology or maybe hydrogen could be a good project to repurpose some 15x fleets.

    GWR fleet procurement

i did remember seeing it posted somewhere i got the impression that the next fleet replacement tender is for Northern 15x fleets, Chiltern stock, TPE units and then GWR replacement of 15x/16x fleets. Only thing i can recall is that they were 24m vehicles with bi mode spec which could include 750v dc

    If you think of it as 175 fleet had 11 2-cars, 16 3-car 27 units and 24 2-car 158s. The new 197s 51 2-car sets 26 3-car plus your MK4s. That’s the bulk of mainline fleet. Not including the 11 4-car 231s that will eventually do Ebbw Vale, Maesteg & Cheltenham’s.

    West Wales resignalling progress

Wales Route Operating Centre might just be at capacity. Ebbw Valley is being resignalled so that will go into Wales Route Operating Centre. Rhymney Valley including Queen St will move from Wales Route Operating Centre to Core Vallet Lines Intergated Control Centre at Taffs Well. Makes sense west...

I might be wrong the Crewe stopper I’d say is a bit iffy as I’m sure Cardiff drivers do some of them. Don’t think there is going to be enough drivers trained to do it. Crewe stopper is a self contained diagram which uses the same unit nearly all day vice versa.

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

How diesel gen units are in the 756 power pack? I thought it was less than a 231 because they have batteries fitted.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

I think 2 x 197s will be pushing it from May. Nobody in South Wales have yet to be trained on them, numbers in Crewe and Shrewsbury also low I’d say faint possibility of July/August onwards or maybe later in the year.
