Possibly some extensions to the Crewe - Euston TV stopper

Thanks everyone. I will look into all of the options. It seems that no advance fares are available on the Sunday from Brighton to any Virgin Trains destinations (I looked at Lime St, New St and Manchester) but there are advance fares from Euston.

Thank you horizonflame, I had not thought of the Chiltern option (agreed on the greater comfort). Cheers, no fares are showing for via Kensington Olympia option. All I can see is a £33.20 Off Peak Day Single when I select the "Valid only on Southern and London Midland services" option.

Hi, I'm looking at travelling from Liverpool Lime Street [LIV] - Brighton [BTN] with a 16-25 railcard on 1st December, travelling back on 3rd December. I am flexible with times. Ideally I would travel with Virgin Trains but the Liverpool - London route seems to always be expensive nowadays...

Any idea what the main reason for the extending these platforms is? The current platform 2 is just over 160m so is tight for 2 x 319. I remember reading that the extensions were for 390s diverted over Chat Moss but this seems unlikely if only 9 car variants fit.

According to @NetworkRailLIV on Twitter, it’s on time. They have mentioned that one new platform opens after Christmas and the other after the Summer 2018 works. Platform 1 will close permanently next Summer.

The first arrival was 1F26 from London Euston at 2123 so the lines did not reopen earlier.

Will the new platforms be used after Phase 1 or after Phase 2 in 2018?

I've seen this before but without the New TPE train. Presumably this would normally use the other side of the station for the Chat Moss. Still seems strange to remove platform 1 for occasional Pendolinos.

Virgin Trains are now using Platform 9 at Lime Street. The end of platform 7 has been closed off to passengers/staff and the ATMs near platform 7 are now unavailable.

I was thinking that. It's still there but maybe it is only there to allow turnbacks from the city direction (such as the Preston service).

Curious how the turnaround works at South Parkway as all arrivals on platform 4 seem to have departed from platform 3, likewise all arrivals from platform 2 departed from platform 1. I presume a shunt is involved but I am surprised there is capacity.
