i suspect that they are manipulating the role of conductor to customer service/host heading towards the disgrace of 'driver only trains'.....

Not 100% but I think TPE drivers go to Scarborough, but often its York they stop off at for a break. The drivers can then continue on to Scarborough or go to Manchester Airport. I believe the future holds routes to Nottingham and Sheffield with Scarborough being dropped.
