TOC emailed saying I'm too far away.. anyone experienced this?

It’s a bitter pill and maybe unfair, but unfortunately you are a victim of previous disingenuous applicants who have been economical with the truth; whether it be passing an accurate commute time or saying they’d move once employed. Also not helped that the union back them all they way when...

TPE - "Essential travel only" Friday 23rd June.

Why stop there? Let’s do a total review of all the personnel that have contributed. Including the ‘tactical route review’ submitters, the ones that stop training by refusing cab access leaving you catching the 9 hour 0230 start. Let’s get rid of those telling lies in the mess room and...

ASLEF Overtime Ban at TPE Suspended

That is just not true. The RD deal was pulled early by ASLEF, citing working covid issues. That clause you mention wasn’t inserted until management had to go to DfT to seek permission to start Rest Day deal negotiations. Ironically the original terms were offered in an extension; that could...

ASLEF Overtime Ban at TPE Suspended

The agreement was pulled by ASLEF about 2 weeks ish before it was due to expire. Looking at some comms coming out it looks like this ‘reset’ is only going one way. Standby for the same personalities (on both sides) to revert back to normal sometime soon.

ASLEF Avanti strike July 2nd and LNER Overtime ban

Most of those attending Glastonbury will be supporting the industrial action. Best to keep them onside.

ASLEF Overtime Ban at TPE Suspended

Bang on. But support for the strike here was waning, despite the rhetoric. 61% turnout tells you all you need to know. I think turnout will increase now.

ASLEF Overtime Ban at TPE Suspended

Members lobbying at branch. Refreshing that the EC have listened to its members rather than going with their strategic political agenda. I think it may support the national action. Drivers will now not be so out of pocket and even more likely to keep the strike mandates going.

TPE franchise to move to OLR

Not a great deal has changed in terms of management/union relationships. Especially as one rep helpfully reminded everyone on social media this week that ‘they don’t have to allow route learners in their cab’. Whilst true, why would you want to delay the training of someone who’s ultimately...

TPE franchise to move to OLR

That is the question! It depends on how you lead. Create an echo chamber around yourself and there’s no chance of that happening. Creating a culture of fear amongst your head of departments, equally no chance. Personally, a major part of the problem was importing those seniors that were...

TPE franchise to move to OLR

I think everyone on here would agree that FG are far from perfect and many problems at TPE are self inflicted. Looking at this thread you’d think that the two unions have been totally squeaky clean throughout. When pressed on the news even the ASLEF GS couldn’t (wouldn’t) say how TPE have...

    TPE INTERVIEW

Not anymore. Interview and SOL history now.

Avanti West Coast contract extended for six months

Not going to offer an opinion on where I think the main fault IR wise at TPE lies. It’s worth mentioning that at York the qualified advert has been constantly running for over 12 months. 27 trainees at York depot with more to come, but it’s too much for the system to cope with. Drivers are...

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

Not officially in dispute yet but a ballot has gone out to TPE drivers. Only a matter of time.

    I got 6 and a bit months

    Part time Drivers?

I think you’re right overall. In my TOC it is clear that company council and the level of management they deal with cannot stand each other, and it shows. At the same time, despite zero deliberate breaking of agreements, the TOC concedes everything and we end up with more MOUs than paragraphs...

    Part time Drivers?

The reason the industry is on its knees summed up 3 words. Having said that, the only part time driving job ‘permitted by the employer’ at my TOC is also job share.

    TPE - Trainee Driver - Sheffield (04/02/22)

I am afraid that previous applicants have let you down. TPE's fingers have been burnt severely with drivers (both trainee and qualified) joining the business on a promise to move then not doing so. Which has resulted in transfers increasing the losing depots training burden and existing drivers...

Returning to driving after a few years break?

Not everyone in aviation are pilots. My license has expired. Why fortunately? The safety culture in aviation is streets ahead of the railway.

Returning to driving after a few years break?

It’s very much like that in most safety critical industries. I’ve come from aviation and my license expired after a certain amount of time.
