Pretty sure there is a per transaction limit of £20 (going up to £30) which is where the confusion is. You can spend thousands on your contactless each day but not more than £20 at a time.
I'd tread carefully if doing this to be honest. I'm pretty sure they can still prosecute for the original offence if they wanted to. Sure someone with more knowledge will correct me if wrong.
I've used them in the past and honestly don't know why but they do appeal to me over conventional tickets. Maybe it's just because of the generation I've been brought up in.
I also find it odd. Especially because the people receiving the PF were on the train to the airport and leaving the country... What is the chance that they will ever get the money from that PF?
