Drop Out Rate for Trainee Train Drivers

Starting as a trainee you need to give it your all and life takes a backseat for a year. Listen, take notes and ask lot of questions. Talk to the other trainees. Smile. Breath and work hard on your home work - it will serve you well! Most trainees pass but the real question is how hard or easy...

Because it is fact. An operator doesn’t HAVE to do anything. They don’t have to retest you because you fail a section of the recruitment process and I think you need to let that sink in.

Just wouldn’t happen. They don’t have the time to be re-testing for a single person when there’s 1,000 other candidates

Train driver allowed to use colour corrective lenses?

It would have to be some extensive testing and TOCs don’t have the time to test you to see if it works for you.

Train driver allowed to use colour corrective lenses?

Train driver allowed to use colour corrective lenses?

If you’re colour blind and are in hopes of joining the Railway as a driver I would suggest thinking of another career path. If it’s going to be changed it won’t be changed any time soon. Don’t waste your time waiting and hoping. It will be a long, long road.

As long as your tattoos are not deemed offensive, you’re fine. I’m full of tattoos, including hands, and I work with a lot of drivers and guards who are the same. I was talking to an LNER driver last week and she has both sleeves including hands done.
