How strict are cross country at taking qualified drivers with incidents on their record? Is it a complete no even for a single incident such as a fail to call or do they assess each candidate individually , aka potentially give them a chance?

Control would likely refuse to allow a sudden change to stopping patterns based on sudden increases in passenger loadings like this because there is likely to be already people on the train wanting stops which you are asking permission to miss, I think stuff like this needs slightly more...

More likely to be due to poor railhead conditions. Can't speak for the line through Google but Leeds to selby can be very dodgy round Gascogine wood and south Milford in autumn. Sometime loose 3/4 minutes just trying to stop at South Milford. One of those places where you can even slide in summer.

Yeh either skid pan training or driver training , did it on our course, runs via turners lane. Part of northerns training involves taking trainee down for 2 or 3 days to have a practice at driving a train after the months of classroom training.

I really can't see it Happening due to the incredible costs involved. If it was complete nationalisation then they would have to pay all staff in the same job the same pay. So take drivers for examlple, there Is now a massive difference in the salaries of drivers across the different companies...
