Thank you, that is excellent - appreciate the quick check on this.

    Urgent TOPS Requests

Hi all, does anyone know if 323221 is out today please? Thanks!

    Class 185 future

Great units they are, only inconvenience with them is the inability to follow sprinter differential speeds and fuel usage. If a number were to leave TPE at any point, Chiltern or similar work to that would be appropriate. Run far more efficiently doing intercity style work compared to frequent...

Options for the proposed Birmingham Moor Street to Oxford service

Be good if this was done. Another way to do this could be extending the existing two hourly Moor Street to Leamington Chiltern service on to Oxford.

    Northern 323s refurbishment and cascade

Sorry if bit off topic but from what I last seen believe from December they will route the Crewe to Birmingham round the Darlaston way but call at Tame Bridge Parkway before the new stations open by 2022. Would make sense the 323s being kept for the local services between Wolverhampton, Walsall...

    WMR Class 172 Refurbishments

Should be the same as the Class 172/2 work which is new seat covers, seat frames and handles resprayed, new carpets, internal main doors repainted into orange, fitment of plugs and any panel damage etc. rectified. The 172/0s have had new information TV style screens fitted and the current...

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Last I had seen first unit should enter service by end of year according to the Conference document on here (http://news.wmtrains.co.uk/documents) with Hereford introduction first, then Snow Hill and then Shrewsbury. Had seen that 196101 had shifted up to by the running lines when I passed...

Great Western Railway Heathrow Express Class 387 Refittment and Service Updates

Chiltern's 168s at the facing table seating bays have table ends that slide in to give some more room which can be useful. Only one I can think of that is of that design.

Can modern DMU'S run at 110mph?

185 running on all 3 of its engines would very likely be able to reach 110. The 100mph is the maximum operating speed, but the design of modern units is such that they are normally tested and able to reach a speed just beyond the maximum operating speed.

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Noticed whilst driving past Tyseley depot (whilst on a couple of essential journeys!) that 196101 seems to have a yellow end gangway door on it as opposed to black. Impressed that there is a mock carriage for training use too.

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Unlikely to cause that much of an issue - the 170/153 formations that already operate the line are already kept to their own set diagrams and I expect the 196s will simply drop in to replace those. WMR do a decent job of keeping things on their booked duties it would seem; the 172/0s are on...

    OLR - Northern Franchise Rebrand

Excellent branding work there, Network North would be a good name change.

West Midlands Railway Class 172/0 distribution after December Timetable change

Don't work for WMT but use Snow Hill lines fairly often and noted two of the Class 172/0 diagrams based on a couple of weekday observations and worked the likely workings out. Cannot guarantee 100% it is accurate yet. Apart from these two 2+2 formation diagrams, there may be a 172/3 + 172/0...

    WMTrains livery and station branding

Interesting to hear, the TPE information screens are decent so should be a useful addition. Surprised they have replaced the old scrolling displays, but great to see further improvements being installed as part of the refurbishments.

    Chiltern Unit Refurbishments/Potential New Stock

Very welcome. Yes unless you actually see it you would never really know of it working its trade still in service. Shame it was never power door fitted otherwise would have been useful to relieve the pressure on the 168s. Yes it is the "peak-buster" set as it were. 168s and Mk3s have got air...

Class 80X - poor sound and thermal insulation

Agreed on this, think it is to do with both insulation and the air con system which is prominent noise wise. If you ever get a Voyager coach with an engine out you'll notice how good the Voyager's noise insulation actually is.

    Chiltern Unit Refurbishments/Potential New Stock

Yes it has been, painted up in full Chiltern silver livery. Operates the 0622 from Bicester North to Marylebone and 1721 from Marylebone to Bicester North (extends to Banbury on Fridays only) during the weekdays so not the most taxing of diagrams for it!

    Chiltern Unit Refurbishments/Potential New Stock

Thanks for the summary. Makes me think they might keep a small proportion 4 car (perhaps the three 168/2s which do have the different slightly technical differences?) to prevent a daft arrangement of one centre car being left. Shame there was never a move to swap those with 4 170s from West...

    Chiltern Unit Refurbishments/Potential New Stock

Was a 165, had to be taken out of service at Solihull but managed an ECS move to Dorridge platform 3. By chance was on a WMR couple of trains back which picked up some of the people onboard it at Solihull. Overheard someone saying it hit the driving cab but think everyone was okay which is the...

    Northern Class 195: Construction/Introduction Updates

Does not surprise me really with the key or software situation based on my experience with CAF! 172s and 710s I find ride very well and 170s whilst not as good as 158s, are fine. Hitachis are okay aside from when faced with poor track quality or pointwork at high speed. CAF by far the worse...
