    Ashley Down station construction updates

It certainly looks like that from a distance. They were applying ‘mortar’ with a gun yesterday…

    Ashley Down station construction updates

Now the ‘bricks’ are apparently being clipped onto the metal slats. This isn’t a technology I’m familiar with, are they some kind of brick tiles? Also, have the actual lifts been fitted? There can’t be many other large jobs left to do now…

Study launched into Bristol Temple Meads electrification plan

Section 78.3 of the WECA document says the following: Does anyone know what a ‘push out’ cantilever system is?

    Ashley Down station construction updates

The main lines at Ashley Down were blocked yesterday with wood decking on the track, presumably to give vehicle access from the Station Lane access point. Does anyone know what this related to?

No trains calling at Bath Spa today

With today's (Thursday 7th December) strike, I believe there's a hourly service between Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads but apparently these trains are scheduled to pass through Bath Spa without stopping. Does anyone know why?

What exactly is a T3, some specific type of possession?

South & East Rail Group on Twitter

I follow South & East Rail Group (SERG) on Twitter and they give the impression of being insightful but it occurred to me that I have no idea whether they're legit. Their website is minimal to say the least. Does anyone know who or what SERG are? Should they be taken seriously? Edit: I...

    HS2 Old Oak Common

A slightly tangential question but typically how fast would a Bristol to Paddington train pass Old Oak Common at the moment? Have they started slowing for Paddington by then?

    Ashley Down station construction updates

I'm not daring to be optimistic. Apart from the bridge, it looks very close to finished but I'm aware the surrounding area is a muddy mess so there will be a lot of work to do with the paths and steps that the completed design will feature...

    Ashley Down station construction updates

Not a jot, both the on-line and on-site info hasn’t been updated for about six months. The wrinkled paper on the board on the worksite shows the site pre-platforms…

    Ashley Down station construction updates

So what happened to the previously communicated blockade? How dare things change!

    Ashley Down station construction updates

I don’t think you could block the two lines of Ashley Down and still have Temple Meads - Filton Abbey Wood trains calling at Lawrence Hill and Stapleton Road? The track layout doesn’t support it?

    Ashley Down station construction updates

Are the bridge and lifts still scheduled to be installed during a blockade in August? I can't see any mention of planned engineering in that area on the GWR site...

    Ashley Down station construction updates

Does anybody know what progress there's been since the posession? There are no updates online and the work site is almost impossible to view...

TfW Newport to Chester with dining

I need to go to Chester on Thursday night and can see an opportunity to try the TfW dining experience. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:W26623/2023-07-13 suggests I'll be in luck but how likely is it to actually run with dining...

    Ashley Down station construction updates

Given the advanced state of the platforms and that the bridge is due to be installed in late August, I'd be very interested to understand why a 2024 opening date is being indicated? What tasks will need to take place and why will they take so long?
