    Former British car marque revivals.

There was a thread back in October (now closed) about the revival of the Morris Commercial brand and their take on the J type van: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/morris-je-electric-van.255544/ Also suggests that at least this brand isn’t owned by the Chinese (or BMW)!

International borders you've crossed by land

I’m pretty sure that the last time I checked the Republic of Ireland wasn’t ‘within the UK’…

International borders you've crossed by land

That’s also true in many other ‘countries’ folk have been listing as a single entity-Quebec in Canada, Catalonia/Basque/Galicia in Spain, just to name a few examples…

True but there was also a lot of curtailment going on, so if demand over Christmas had been higher so would have wind production. Over that last three months of the year wind production has been higher than gas.

Like you I’ve taken part in these events (through my supplier and been credited a mighty £8 or so) but I don’t think this would account for the drop? According to the graph demand has been trending downwards steadily since about 2012/13 (and that’s a far as it goes) despite the uptick in...

It’ll probably make the news in the next few days but 2023 is the year that renewables (Wind/Solar/Hydro) overtook fossil fuels (Gas/Coal) in the British Grid. Amazingly civilisation hasn’t collapsed! Interesting that demand on the grid also continues to fall.

    Motorway services discussion

It’s certainly possible although with charging speeds increasing with every new generation of vehicle and charging point (and sometimes even with just a new software release), it’ll get to the point where you’re just tucking in to your meal and the car will have fully charged!

    Motorway services discussion

You’re quite right, I was looking at the menu on older link that’s still on their website. Apologies, but I guess inflation is really kicking in. Given that they’re using mostly localish suppliers (a former neighbour of mine in Gloucestershire is a supplier to Gloucester services) I’m not sure...

    Motorway services discussion

Not sure where you get three times the price from. Fish and chips at spoons is about £8, at Tebay it’s about £11, and this is the most expensive item in the hot meals selection-all the others are under £10. Quality is clearly subjective but personally I would say it’s far nicer. And certainly...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Or, if you were actually genuinely concerned about the environment, you could buy an already built EV.

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

For someone apparently so concerned with the environmental cost of cars it’s very odd that you stated this previously:

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Yeah bit difficult to know but according to some data I’ve found in the financial year 2020/21 74 thousand PHEVs were registered as company cars. In the calendar year 2020 67 thousand PHEVs were registered on the road and in the calendar year 2021 it was 114 thousand. So I would suggest well...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

My colleagues have them as company cars-fuel payments are all mileage based so in effect they are ‘private’ rather than ‘fleet’ cars in terms of use (no work charging/fuel card etc). As you say it’s to do with tax (not the environment) as to why they choose them (as I’m sure is true with most...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

I don’t doubt they use their batteries. But of the three people I know (all colleagues) who have PHEVs only one has ever charged it, (and that was from a three pin to see how it worked). In these cases they might as well just have a decent mild hybrid and save the weight of hauling around a...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

I’m not really talking about most plugin hybrids, which are directly powered by the ICE. With these types of PHEV the opposite is true-you’re hauling around a fairly heavy battery which most of the time isn’t doing anything more than a mild hybrid would do with a lot less weight. I was...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

I don’t entirely disagree and for the 40% of the population who don’t have access to home charging it is certainly an option as we go through this transition. However, as has been pointed out many times before that type of car is more expensive to develop for manufacturers (will be passed on to...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

That’s almost certainly because your model was tested before 2023. The current 2023 regulations require Lane Keep Assist to default to ON every time the car is started in order to achieve a five star rating.

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

It’s not just an issue with the MGs (EV or ICE), it’s a much wider issue. I have a Cupra Born and the Lane Keep system is terrible (but not dangerous) on anything that is not a dual carriageway/motorway. https://www.whichcar.com.au/news/euro-ncap-upset-carmakers-did-bare-minimum-lane-keep-assist

Was the college sponsored by Toyota or in Burnaston?!
