Is there anywhere on National Rail that creates a kind of mini-metro service?

The whole of Glasgow’s North Clyde - trains every 2 and a half - 3 minutes through Partick and Hyndland taking you as far west as Helensburgh, as far south as Larkhall, or as far east as Edinburgh. Frequency does dip at night and on Sundays, but trains are still fairly frequent at those times.

Glasgow’s North Clyde Line - constant delays

It does - extended dwells in most schedules at Bathgate, Airdrie, Coatbridge Sunnyside, High St, Charing Cross, Partick, Hyndland, Dalmuir and Dumbarton Central….most of these dwells are longer than 30 seconds (although by the looks of it not always).

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

I see a lot of timetable changes are in for the end of August in McGills land. Does anyone know what they entail? Is it just trimming service frequencies back? Seen the 547 is due to be withdrawn.

    Stagecoach West Scotland

Correct, basically a stagecoach version of the X5. Think it also went via moodiesburn to allow the X25 to go fast via the M80.

    Lanark Argyle Line Timetable

Answer may be to do with this: https://www.scotrail.co.uk/revised-timetable ‘The suspension of driver training during lockdown, due to physical distancing rules making it impossible for two people to sit in the driver’s cab at the same time, means it’s not yet possible for a full service to...

    ScotRail 156 at Newcastle?

Yes, and in the north east of England - partly to these reciprocal arrangements probably.

    ScotRail 156 at Newcastle?

The crew don’t work the route all day, just some trains between Dumfries and Carlisle, There are also some northern units that do the same. There are various existing threads on the subject - but these arrangements have existed since British Rail days I believe.

    ScotRail 156 at Newcastle?

Yes, scotrail crews only know to Carlisle. There are also Northern crews who work some Dumfries to Carlisle services

    ScotRail 156 at Newcastle?

A 156 stables overnight at Newcastle off of the 1613 from Glasgow to Newcastle. This forms the first Newcastle - Glasgow in the morning. If I remember correctly, a 156 is also given to Northern to operate some of their local services. This is off a morning train from Dumfries and goes back to...

A real shame - PPM was sitting at 97% before that happened, but not their fault

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

Horrendous that Kilmalcolm has lost a direct bus service to Greenock, really. The X7 should really be going back to serving Greenock all day rather than having a minibus shuttling between Port Glasgow and Kilmacolm. Even an hourly Greenock X7 with an hourly Port Glasgow 530 would have been...

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

I don’t think any Ayr drivers sign 385s, so you can’t swap 380/385s out very easily if the plan is to swap a 380 onto circles and a 385 onto Ayrshire.

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Think the 385s are already a bit stretched now, with electrification of the SDA and Edinburgh to Glasgow QS - don’t forget that many of these run in multiple (8 cars all day on the Edinburgh to Queen st route)
