    Question about flasks

with the exception of flasks probably most dangerous goods loads are all now lost to road haulage the punchline being road is inherently more dangerous than rail

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

when i used to go to Scotland a lot in the late 1980s, Inverness guards would make an announcement about isles etc being clear of bags and on more than one occasion saw guards go along the train and remove suitcases/bags etc from train on to the platform to get the massage across

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

Plus, when the concrete slab was built it was for buses weighing around 10 tons and had maybe 200 vehicles a day spread out across the entire site. Now buses are around 13 tons and about 500 a day using only a third of the original site.

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

the BBC interviewees are full of crap there's loads of staff on site and at Jacobs well offering help. The departure times haven't been adjusted either

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

Nelson street car park is being used for drop off only and also a waiting point to prevent the Jacobs well stop being overwhelmed. it is also a layover for buses and coaches to to ease pressure on Nelson street itself.

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

The glass roof bar leaking where the seals are expired is structurally sound and has not fully or partly collapsed. It is not RAAC. A clue is in comments made by @Bantamzen : water has been literally flowing down the stairs from the stands to the concourse below. Leeds bus station, not...

West Yorkshire Bus Franchising to go ahead

The reason West Yorkshire is following the Manchester model, is because Manchester has gone through the whole legal process of objections etc from bus companies/operators/owners etc so there would be very limited grounds for court appeals in west Yorks as virtually everything that could be...

    Chiltern MK3 replacement fleet possibilities?

i dont know about TPE south but Rolling stock is very much an issue on the north route, many services that were promised to be 6 car class 185s turn up as 3 cars resulting in severe over crowding - just like the good old days.

West Yorkshire "Enhanced Partnership Plus" proposal

They can't run the current enhanced service the mayor has provided additional funds for. In south Leeds on Belle Isle Road, for example, there is supposed to be a bus roughly every 8 mins between 7am and 7pm but i can stand at the stop for anything between 10 and 45 minutes, especially in the...

Arson on bus in service - Leeds

It's the second one in Leeds. The other was in Middleton, again arson. What is very frightening is the speed at which the fire burned and the thick (toxic?) black smoke bellowing out. I'm very much hoping that they are isolated incidents and don't become a 'thing'.

    White Rose Station

the press release is questionable-- Munroe K hasn't made any financial contribution as yet - Leeds city council have paid Monroe's share by way of of a Loan of around £420k :?: most people in south Leeds questioned the building of the station as it DOES NOT serve the white rose shopping centre...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

what sort of track is used Crewe - Shrewsbury -Newport ? is it jointed, continuous welded or a mix ? The reason for asking is i use trains to / from work everyday and having travelled on the Northern rail equivalent - class 196s and the Transpennine 185 (used as a comparison due to door...

    TfW 175 shortages

with regard to unit suitability - you may get to know your fellow traveller better than you may want, but surely a 150 etc is better than a cancellation or bustitution, plus lets not forget 150/2 units were the Backbone of the Transpennine network working services such as Holyhead to Hull & 2...

Should bus companies be more responsive to changes in travel patterns?

the Ticketer machines are set up to count off - as the bus pulls up to a stop to set down the driver registers the amount so if the bus is empty at the terminus the data will show as empty - the fare is irrelevant. There are lots of computer programmes at work in the backrooms, but to see it in...

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

it may seem ridiculous, but as previously stated the Ticketer machines are producing huge amounts of data some of which has not previously been available. and to be fair the operators are going to use this data to their advantage and map and forecast current and future passenger usage and ditch...

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

the £80,000 a week was the approximate costing that Tracey Brabin took to Westminster in order to obtain a fixed cost direct award from the DfT. in addition - yes i was wrong in thinking it would end on the same date as the national scheme however there is an end date of sorts -

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

The £2 flat fare is totally dependent on Tracey Brabins ability to continue funding it. At a quoted cost of around £80,000 per week I would imagine it will finish on the same date as the national scheme.
